THE X Factor judges will prove they’re real Muppets by impersonating famous grumpy old puppet duo Statler and Waldorf.


The critical trio pour scorn on performers from a box at this years Royal Variety Show - just like the moaning pair.

Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh will prove they are game for a laugh at November’s star-studded bash as the a into the acts.

An ITV insider said: "We wanted to use the X Factor judges as they are the stars of one of our biggest shows. There aren’t that many differences between them and Statler and Waldorf. They all like moaning and they all have pretty sharp tongues - no one is safe from their snide comments."

But they’re going to have mind their P’s and 0’s as they will be sitting in the next box to Prince Charles. The insider added: "Let’s just hope they keep quiet about Charles and Camilla."

To add to the fun, the real Muppets will also be making an appearance.

The Muppet Show was recently voted No 8 in a p all of ITV’s 50 greatest programmes. And as TV Biz revealed, Disney plans a new series of the classic.

Meanwhile TV bosses are still in talks with other acts to take part in the Royal Variety Show.
