I'm trying to comprise a list of stuff puppet builders would buy from dollar stores and other cheap discount stores. Any ideas?

Glasses. I bought two pairs of glasses for my puppets that worked really well from the dollar store. I popped out the lens on them.

There's a lot of stuff you can use from a dollar store. Just gotta use your imagination. At the dollar store near me, there's a lot of craft supplies, although you have to be careful what you buy from dollar stores. Some of their stuff can be less expensive elsewhere.

feather boas

I found some feather boas at Dollar General in the toy section that were real cheap and real colorful.. Made great hair.

Clothes from Goodwill, feather dusters, cheap pillows for the fiber stuffing (sometimes as much polyester fibers for stuffing as in the bags, and cheaper!), ping pong balls, felt, some rugs have a good material to make something out of (just that it's heavy). For background puppets you can buy cheap, non name brand dolls and convert them to puppets. thread, needles, glue. There's so MANY THINGS that can be used for puppets, it's not easy to just say what.
