I've been thinking about the various Sesame Street songs that have had celebrity edits specifically Put Down the Duckie and Monster in the Mirror. Those segments were included in Sesame Street's only pledge-drive specials, Sesame Street, Special and Big Bird's Birthday or Let Me Eat Cake. Sesame Street, Special is the firs ttime that I remember seeing the celebrity edit of Put Down the Duckie, and I think I saw it during it's original broadcast (or around that time). I think that's the first time that version of the song was shown, and I think that Big Birfd's Birthday was the first appearance of the celebrity version of Monster in the Mirror.

I don't know either of these as fact, but I thinki it's good speculation. Now, while those were the only Sesame Street specials produced as pledge drive specials, the 25th anniversary video was also broadcast during the 1994 pledge season, reedited to include different segments (including the celebrity Monster in the Mirror but not the celebrity Put Down the Duckie), and that's the first time I remember seeing the celebrity version of A New Way to Walk. Of course, the difference there is that it wasn't a re-edit of the original skit.

But I think that most of these segments were made for special events, like peldge drives, perhaps thinking that adults would be more likely to watch the specials with their kids and enjoy these celebrity versions.

The only other two celebrity-filed segmnets that I know of are The Alphabet Song and Dance Myself to Sleep. The latter was included in The Street We Live On, not a pledge drive special but still a special event, and aired in prime time.

So if all my speculation is true, the the only all-star song to not be included in any big special was The Alphabet Song, and like A New Way to Walk, this wasn't a re-edit of any existing segment. Various verses with celebrities were shot at different times, and then the whole segment was broadcast.

I forgot about another celebrity song: Sing. And now that I think about it, I don't think that was made for any specific specials. I think it premiered in the season 31 premiere (it's in that episode, and features guests from the 30th season).
