This was one of my favorite songs when I was little . I can't help but think the song was based on some other real song I don't remember the name of though..Does anyone older and wiser than me know if it was?:embarrassed:

How far back does this go?

Though I don't recall it the only pop song I can think of that comes close is Cecilia by Simon & Garfunkel.

As far as I can tell, all the songs for the Cecille sketches are originals (not parodies of any other). Some novelty songwriters, though, have done original work that copies a popular style without using an existing tune directly. It made sense for "I'm Gonna Get to You" to be a Motown song, for instance...and for "Brush Down the Dogies*" to be country and western.

*Yes, that's "dogies" with one G, a term for cattle in some cowboy songs--though why the animator got inspired to compare teeth to cows, I'll probably never know.

Man, I miss claymation like this. I really do. It's not so much I'm sick of seeing CGI (I enjoy it, but only a hand full of people really do it right), but there's just something to be said for the artistry of making little bits of something physical move.

And these, if I'm not mistaken, are Will Vinton Studios, right? I loved their work most of all, especially on those California Raisins specials. It was just great to see that sort of thing on Sesame Street.
