Calling all the Lovers and Dreamers...
Greetings gang! My name is Mateo Zeske and I am a writer and film maker currently based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. I am hoping to compile a fan film about Jim Henson, the Muppets, their legacy and thier relevance today in honor of the big anniversary. The format is not set in stone (I am hoping it will organically evolve) but I would like to get testemonials from the fans who have been touched and strengthened by Mr. Henson`s work. In the near future, I would love to meet with those in the area who would like to do this or have other suggestions and would ultimately love to collect words from across the globe. Any ideas and assistance are welcome. I am hoping that this can grow into something very representative of the subject: an innovative, heartfelt, sincere, unflinching, lovingly made Valentine that will build upon the sense of community put into motion so many years ago. Please email me at mateozeske@gmail.com

Jim's inspired me to do puppetering as well as try my hand at writing my own stories. For what he taught, I believe in myself now. His works have helped me through my hard times, when I had Hepititus C; and was doing treatments. I owe my life to Jim and his works.

I'd go so far as to say, he saved me, literally. I was at my lowest point, seriously considering suicide the treatments were so bad on my body. I had TMS S1 in my DVD player, and as I was contemplating it, my hand knocked the remote for it off onto the floor. It hit the floor and the player turned on. I ended up watching the Muppets all night. By the next day, I felt a little better. And after that time, whenver I felt very low and down and out again, I watched the Muppets.

It sounds corny....but.....he saved me.

I deleted the duplicate copies of this thread. Please do not create duplicate threads, even in different forums. Pick the forum that best suits your topic and go with it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Muppet Matt -- that was a family nickname of mine at some point in my youth.

MupperQuilter-Thanks for maintaining a great forum, I never thought this would be possible!

Davina-Thanks for the support. What`s it like in your part of the world?

Renee- What a story! And what a testement to your strengths and Jim`s work. I`m grateful you have pulled through with your hope and sense of humor in tact. I would love to incorporate that into the film if we can find a way. I also wanna hear more about your puppetry and writing.

I`ve had a lot of ideas for the film and have begun shooting some interview segments. On June 16th and 17th The Landmark Inwood in Dallas is showing The Muppet Movie at Midnight and I hope to see any local fans there!!

xoxo

Well.............. here it goes. Hope you like it!

Jim helped me learn that it's not always easy being green. Jim inspired me to think about becoming a puppeteer/ Muppeteer when I get older. Jim has helped SO many people in his life and even after he past on, I just hope I can do the same someday. The legacy that Jim left us still lives on in us today, and will live on FOREVER! Maybe someday we WILL find it the Rainbow Connection, the lovers, the dreamers, and me!

There's my 2 cents worth.

Hi, Mateo,

I'm obviously another of the big time Muppet fanatics, making voices and referencing them probably way too often. Anything Muppety I love, as do most of the others here.

As a kid I had a few influences and Jim Henson was one of them, inspiring me toward a creative kick in puppetry and cartooning. I used to ride my bike carrying a large suit-case all the way into town to do puppet shows at the preschool I had attended years earlier. I would carry all puppets, LPs, and a record player, get there, set the needle on the record from behind a bookshelf, and throw on the puppet REALLY fast!

Nowadays I perform my own characters from Muley Comix and Muley is the Official SpokesMule of the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. My Comix have appeared in several forms of print and the internet, in anthologies and guest appearances in the comic books of some of my friends.

Having been so touched by someone like Jim Henson I do think of him on a daily basis, and try to emulate his teachings (this seems religious, I know) by trying to be patient and kind, always asserting the positive, and always trying to inspire someone else by never negating them but always trying to validate them in some way.

Jim always said he wanted to leave the world a little better by his being here, and I want to do the same thing. I want to make people smile and laugh! I want to see people be happy, regardless what their situation is. I think I want to do all that because that's what (I think) Jim Henson would have wanted me to do.

I think that even though he passed away in 1990, his work continues--not necessarily through the characters he created but by all of those he touched, whether in person or through inspiration, and by having done that he truly has left the world a little bit better by his having been here!

Way to go, Jim!

oldly, around here lately it's been really weirdly warm.. record high's (upper 60's/lower 70's..) but it seems to have cooled back down to normal (hi 50's to mid 60's) and hopefully will stay that way.. at least til my garden gets started
have been busily trying to get our home computers up and working properly, and networked, before my step daughters come to visit for the summer.. lots of problems, but we seem to have gotten them mostly sorted out now....

one thing about up here.. it's now 2 am and barely dark out.. looks like twilight...

sup Mateo!

Although I cannot say I have seen an excess Jim's work, I will say that I am a HUGE admirer of Jim and that people like him are quite inspiring. Jim has inspired me to take my dreams and run with them. I can only hope that I can bring as much joy and entertainment to the world as Jim Henson has.
