Hi all!
I am new to this forum, but I'm a big fan of "vintage" Sesame!
Who remembers the Bumble Ardy animated film?
---------
SUMMARY:
Bumble has party, invites 9 swine to come for birthday cake and wine while mom aka Sweet Adeline is working at Smith & Kline.
(which isn't bad, in fact it's fine...)
The 9 swine show up and start trashing the place (breaking dishes, drawing on wall, etc...)
"CHEERS CHEERS CHEERS! May Bumble live 900 years!"
Adeline returns and she's not pleased:
"I'll give you pigs to number 9 to split!!
Vamoose!! Scram!!
Or else I'll slice you into...ham!"
swine run out...
"9 times the door slammed, then again. 'How odd' thought Adeline '...that's ten'."
and then a voice cried, meek and humble: (cue Jim)
"Please let me in, it's your boy Bumble".
"...and so Adeline, that mom divine, took in her arms her Bumble valentine, and kissed him 9 times over 9.
Which isn't bad...in fact, it's fine".
-------------------------------
I always thought the animation looked like Maurice Sendak. A few years back, I did a search for Bumble Ardy and imagine my surprise when I was led to Amazon and other book stores which were selling a book by that name, written by Sendak! Actually, they were taking advance orders, and still are...the new projected release date is Feb. 2004 (according to Amazon).
Also, the voice of Bumble is Jim, and Jim Henson Productions is credited for the film.
A tie in from another thread about Sesame censorship, how about mom leaving Bumble alone in home at night, not to mention the wine?
"...or else I'll slice you into ham"? hmmmn...that ones a little more debatable perhaps.
Anyway, Bumble is one of my all-time faves.
