Building a puppet help

Hello everyone! I have finally decided to create my own muppet, a Fraggle of my own design, but I have no idea where to start! I know that there must be some information out there somewhere that I am just not finding on how to build a muppet. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could start my Fraggle?
