I'm watching America's Got Talent and I just saw Demi Lovato bring the house down. I have to say it was an amazing performance, and it was very moving to watch it. The song, the performance, were more than passing autobiographical, and she really nailed it after having a rather difficult year.
I know that it may seem like some of the young stars--yes, and especially Disney's young stars--have everything going for them. Thousands of young people dream of the kind of fame that stars like Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Dylan and Cole Sprouse have, but as a parent I am sometimes amazed and appalled by the pressure they are under. At a time in their lives when adults should be totally responsible for them, they are often responsible for the livelihoods of lots of adults. I'd like to encourage anybody who actually likes children to send a good wish their way once in a while.
