MGM is going to do a remake of Rodney Dangerfield's classic comedy "Back to School" with Cedric the Entertainer to take over Rodney Dangerfield's role.

Why? why remake such a perfect comedy with Rodney? Don't fix something that isn't broke, not even with a black guy replacing a white.

That's Hollywood for you: remakes and sequels. Heaven forbid someone come up with something creative and turn it into an original, thought provoking and enjoyable movie. Sometimes remakes can be pretty good (I like the newer Ocean's 11). And sometimes, remakes can just make you cry (Godzilla starring Mattew Broderick, anyone?). It's unfortunate that the people responsible for choosing flicks feel the need to stick with a particular formula with their movies. I'm sure they (and we) are missing out on a lot of excellent, original ideas.

I like the original, but I think this newer one is a bad idea.

Hello, Johnboy, just wondering, would you like to bring this topic up in the "New movies comign out" thread? I know lots of people go there who may miss the topic here.
