It's obvious that I'm a huge fan of comics, since I've been writing a lot of fanfics that are based on comics. But I'm just curious about everyone else on MC and whether or not they have an interest in comics.

I'm only interested in the two biggest publishers, Marvel and DC. Others like Dark Horse (creators of "The Mask" comics) are okay, but they're not really my cup of tea, so to speak. A couple of my favorites are Superman and the Fantastic Four (and, speaking of Supes, I'm really excited about the upcoming "Superman Returns" movie).

Stan Lee is my idol. His writing style in comics is superb, and he never fails to interest his readers. I hear that he has a reality show coming out that'll put people with superhero ideas to the test, and the winner will earn immortality (that is, his/her superhero will forever rest in the comic book pages).

But, enough of me....is there anyone here on the boards that have read comics or seen a movie adaptation of the best ones to hit shelves or printed on the Sunday paper?

You kidding? I hate comic books! They're for little kids!!!

j/k, I read comic books all the time. I've got a whole library of the old "Cartoon Cartoon" series, it's awesome!

Well, I have a big collection of comic books... and now I write them, too.

But my collection is entirely humor comics. I don't collect super heroes.

YES! I love comics, though I don't get to read much of the DC or Marvel main line. I prefer to read comics not really on the main radar, though I do love the X-Men and the Justice League and DC's line of heroes. My favorite is Batman. I like Batman. Batman rules.

Comix? Yes!

Superhero books? NO!

I enjoy the artform of comics yet feel that the Big 2 (DC/Marvel) are not helping the medium by publishing the same basic stuff for YEARS! Sure, the Vertigo line takes chances...but that's it as far as DC goes. Marvel is more interested in using the comics to help market toothbrush holders decorated with their 40+ year old characters, and make crappy action films.

I no longer buy monthly books, it's too expensive and I prefer TPBs.

Here are some publishers worth checking out:

I'm a superhero comics kind of guy too, but I've been sort of going on and off with them. I'm really a big Superman fan at heart, in any medium, and I'm going so crazy waiting for the new movie.

I'm actually really into Plastic Man right now, just because it's such a funny deconstruction of what other people do in the superhero genre. That book gets funnier every month!

Also, I've been following the Seven Soldiers series by Grant Morrison, Ultimate SpiderMan, Superman/Batman, and the two new All-Star lines from DC. There are others, but those are the ones I look forward to the most right now.

I read comics, I write and draw comics, heck, I live and breathe comics. I'll always love superhero comics (Marvel and DC will always beat out Image in my mind), but I also love the macabre stuff coming from DC's Vertigo imprint, and Dark Horse does a great job with established properties like Alien/Predator and Star Wars (though their best comic is Mike Mignola's Hellboy). I'll always have a soft spot for Archie, and I'm hoping to help reinvigorate the funny animal sub genre of comics, though with a slightly adult touch. Comics in general and wonderful.

I love comics. I'm very eclectic with my tastes... I still read superman every month...though I like Manga, and independent titles (Bone is one of the single best works of literature ever). I once wanted to be a comic artist but it never panned out (because truthfully I wasn't that good). I actually have a brother that is a professional comic artist (he draws for a small company in Ohio). I guess the whole comic thing is ingrained in me since childhood.
