Over the past two years i have done allot of research on animatronics and I have also built and animatronic bird with 6 motions and i know how difficult it was to come up with any information so i thought i would post some. First lets start with servos i found the company futaba and hitec the best quality remember get metal geared servos they wont wear out. For control i wanted my piece to run by itself not manually so i needed two items first the board that the servos plug into i got a miniSSCII http://www.seetron.com/ssc.htm with this you will need two power supplys one to control servos i got a 5vdc from jameco and one to actually control the board i did not want a batery which is what this is made for so i bought the battery booster 12 from http://www.medonis.com/booster12.html. For actual show control i got the visual show automation VSA from http://www.brookshiresoftware.com/ this is the best product because it incoperates audio so it is easily synced with motion. Another thing you will need is a phone to serial converter bought from seetron be sure to by this with your minisscII i didnt and had to pay shipping twice be sure to PM me if you have any questions of building animatronics of your own.
