why did jim decide to make kermit a frog?

In The Story of Jim Henson: Creator of the Muppets, it is said that many people would look at Kermit and say to Jim Henson, "You've got a frog", and he'd say, "no, it's a creature". I guess that would inspire him to make Kermit into a frog.

And I don't think this question has even been asked 10 times.

Jim finally gave in to the press and others calling the Kermit character a "frog-like" or worse "lizard", and cast him "The Frog Prince" special. He often gave in to things like this over time, when they just wouldn't die, like creating "reperesentational" puppets instead of just abstract "things". Many people insisted Jim named Kermit after Kermit Love, when in reality he was named after a high-school friend. After years of correcting people, he told Mr. Love "Oh just say yes, it's easier."

Even at the end, he even had to give in to whatever pressure he was getting and developed an on camera realtionship with Kermit duirng "The Jim Henson Hour".
