How to attach a mouthplate to the puppet?

Are you trying to attach the hard mouthplate, or the soft (often felt) mouthplate?

    Boiling Faux fur

Hi there, I recently got some fur for a puppet that I'm making. Though this may seem like a dumb question, how do you boil fur? How long should I boil it, how should I dry it, and is there anything that I should do after drying it?

    Contact Cement

Honestly, most people use way too much! You need a lot less contact cement than you think. If you have to wait for more than 3 minutes, then you have too much on your foam. The best method of applying the contact cement is to first apply it on to a piece of scrap foam, then just dob it on the...

My dream , my first puppet

When I go onto the project puppet website, I don't see the hand pattern. Although they were selling one earlier this year. If that is what you saw, then it is an alternative. In puppets here are two main types of hands, live hand and rod hand. The hands that the pattern comes with are rod arms...

    Are these good for replicas?...

No! It's not a bad purchase at all! fleese costs only about $5-10 everyper yard and you only need about 1/2 of a yard. It's not too hard at all. It's really not a waste Edit: not to offend you or anything, but you should do more research into these things before you buy them.

    Are these good for replicas?...

The patterns are pieces of paper that you cut out and overlay onto the fleece, so you would need to buy the green fleece separate. In my opinion the project puppet patterns are mainly for making your own characters, and they give you a base to expand your puppet building skills.

    Fleece skin question

It depends on the puppet, must for most of my puppets I generally sew the fleece or fur as a cover for the foam.

    Are these good for replicas?...

I haven't used the pattern, but it looks good. I would say try it, and if it turns out well, then great, if it doesn't then try tweaking it or try making your own pattern.

    Are these good for replicas?...

Awesome! Sounds like a plan. Just a tip if you are in the US, you can get some decent fleece at Hobby Lobby for around $5 per yard, and for the project puppet patterns, you only need around 1/2 to 1/3 of a yard depending if you use the fleece wisely. You can also get some higher quality fleece...

    Are these good for replicas?...

I saw this post and I just had to chime in. I've been making puppets for just over a year now, and just as FoxWorthy said earlier, you should REALLY try making an original puppet first. When you try to make your first puppet a Kermit replica,(even when you have found a pattern for him) you might...
