More Labyrinth figures: Hoggle! Sir Didymus! Ambrosious!

Sorry for the late reply Trent. Glad you like them - they put a smile on my face every time I walk by them on my shelf. You can find me on DA at: http://el-macho-muchacho.deviantart.com

More Labyrinth figures: Hoggle! Sir Didymus! Ambrosious!

I didn't realize until I went to your Deviantart page that you were the artist who sculpted the Hoggle model I used as reference for my little version. I was awed by that sculpture and really studied it when I plotted out my figure. I owe you thanks - if not for your version, mine wouldn't exist.

More Labyrinth figures: Hoggle! Sir Didymus! Ambrosious!

Thanks guys. These are quite a hit over at my usual custom figure forums so I wanted to share them with folks who have more Henson/Froud appreciation. The base figure for Ludo is a Sully figure from Monster's U with a scratch sculpted head. Hoggle was an Ewok figure that I sculpted over head...

    New Ludo Custom Figure

I've been thinking about making this figure since the first Monster's Inc movie merchandise hit shelves, as I always thought Sully would make a great base figure. Sadly, I never got around to buying a Sully. When the new figures hit stores to promote the sequel, this was a no brainer...

    Introducing "Fred Fanboy" I think...

Just a quick bump. Keith at Puppet 365 was kind enough to give Fred a little shine and selected him as "Puppet of the Day" for February 7, 2013. If you haven't visited the site or submitted a puppet, you should. http://puppets365.com

    Increase in Commercial Television Puppetry

Speaking of, did anybody see the new Zoosk ad featuring a talking heart puppet? http://blog.zoosk.com/2013/01/08/check-out-zoosks-new-commercial-and-puppet-heart-friend/ Not the cutest puppet and the puppetry is rough but its still nice to see puppets featured in advertising.

"Crash and Bernstein" puppet show debuts on Disney XD

Those interview clips are better than any of the episodes I've seen thus far. That said, my 4 and 6 year old love it and it gives us a puppet show to watch outside of Muppet DVDs and Sesame Street. ...and Avengers is the best show on D XD, followe by Ultimate Spider-Man. Just saying.

    Overweight puppets

Alright, I'm convinced. Despite the fact that I'm actually getting used to the weight, I'm going shopping for 1/2 inch foam and some L200 this weekend and will re-do Fred's body. I put this much time into him, might as well get him as close to perfect as possible. Thanks for the links...

    My First Puppet Video!

Just watched the Memory Lane video and it made we want to practice tap dance with my puppets. Nice work.

Crazy Chris's Most Sensantional Inspirational Celebrational Muppet-ational Replica FAN FILM PROJECT

Something tells me local college students might love an opportunity like this and would work for free or close to it.

    Overweight puppets

@LoLa, L200 is your common craft/fun foam, right? If so, I've used that for all my monsters and like it. @ Slackbot, I think it comes down to building weird puppetry muscles that aren't normally worked. Every morning I do 3 sets of 30 pull-ups with 3 sets of 30 push-ups in between, so you'd...

    Introducing "Fred Fanboy" I think...

Thanks LoLa. Once I have his voice down and the performance chops, I would like to take him to a con. I think it would be cool to conduct some man on the street interviews with him for YouTube.

Good looking out kumakami and staceyrebecca. I'll look into both of those options. Still in awe of your Cereal Puppet, SR. There is a new Joanne's that opens on Feb 3 about 2 miles from me so Ill probably check them out just to see what's there.

    Overweight puppets

I just measured my foam and it's 1 inch not 1.5 (my bad). Still made for a heavy puppet. I hear you on the fabric weight. My fun fur based monsters are feather light in comparison to Fred Fanboy here. I did what I could to hide my stitching but I'm in your camp on people not caring. When I start...

    Overweight puppets

My head/neck sock is detachable so I might create a lighter body when I get some thinner foam. The arms could be removed and reattached pretty easy too. None of my local fabric stores seem to carry the thinner foam - but the hunt is on...

    Introducing "Fred Fanboy" I think...

Just finished my 4th puppet (1st non-monster) and think I'm circling around the right name. Working name, Fred Fanboy, came about after I watched some old Muppet documentaries and heard something that stuck with me: many muppets were exaggerated personality traits of their creators/puppeteers...

    Overweight puppets

Thanks CC and D'Snowth. I think the addition of the hoodie is when I noticed a difference. I'll get around to weighing him eventually but I'm going to guess 1.5 pounds. CC, 3+ pounds must have been murder but gives me a good idea of the physical strength and perseverance that it takes to...
