Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Definitely saved the best for last - I thought it was the strongest one of the series by far. The characterisation was the most on point of all.
The Muppet Labs sketch was brilliant. It really worked having Joe From Legal, he should have been with them all along, sometimes ending up as the...
I thought it was "ok" as ever really
I really liked the Pepe segment as he is so random that you get some variety in what he does, but the rest is just the same week after week.
Totally agree with the comment above that Muppet Labs now just seems to be about finding an excuse for Bunsen to be...
I agree. It's about far more than just the voice. Matt is an excellent performer who brings Jim's naughtiness and mischievousness back to Kermit, and he's just fantastic with any character he takes on.
I thought this one was below average, a little flat and boring.
I guess seeing the Electric Mayhem, and Pepe in the video call were the highlights, as well as the Joe from Legal sketch.
It all just runs too long for me, the pacing is bad, and that just makes the average writing seem even...
I thought it was a solid episode, but I agree that it's not engaging or varied enough
At least the framing had a clear and funny purpose to build the episode around with the test audience and Statler & Waldorf.
I thought starting off with the slowest sketch, the Chef one was probably not the...
There is no way it's complete improv, maybe there are some minor elements as you say. It did feel a bit like that with the Pepe segment. The first episode felt totally scripted, maybe they moved off it after that.
I thought it was a massive improvement over the pilot - much funnier and true to the characters, and with a far better line-up of them.
I do agree that the whole social media construct for the plot doesn't work that well, it feels flimsy and pointless.
I really liked the Pepe Gameshow, Piggy...
The pilot just wasn't funny enough. That's the crux of it.
The Muppets have always been multi-layer funny, whether that's laugh out loud stuff like Pepe in a tutu, to background stuff like penguins being fired from cannons, to them even making a joke of each other like Statler & Waldorf with...
I thought it was ok
Pilots can be difficult, let's see the rest
I do agree the whole premise of it feels a bit awkward and i'm not sure the Kermit/Scooter intro and outro were that amazing to get people staying tuned when there is a culture for people just to video switch in seconds. It was...
I LOVED it. So amazing to see the Fraggles back, and especially Karen as Red Fraggle. Some amazing new talent too, well new in terms of the first time the mainstream public has really seen them in action. Mokey's clearly in great hands with Donna Kimbell
The premise of Doozertube and also...
Anyone know what happened to Steps? Apparently they were one missing in the Saturday matinee and weren't in the evening show at all so no musical guest.
i guess it was no"Tragedy" :o:halo::D
So glad you loved it, still buzzing here too. I actually thought i spotted Matt but I was with someone going to get drinks and when I came back and looked for him couldn't see him again. Was such a maze of Muppety people.
Loved your review post. Yes if the idea is to tour the show around the...
Rizzo's social media pages had been mentioning the event like he was there but he wasn't.
I think "Old Tom" from MTI was in the Parade of Obscure Characters if i remember right, but yes no mention that Kevin Bishop had done anything with the Muppets in the past.
Penguins on Kazoo's...
The show was absolutely brilliant, really top class. Just felt totally like The Muppet Show "Live".
No Rizzo, even though they had been saying on his social media he was there. The main muppeteers were Bill, Dave, Eric, Matt and Peter. Mike Quinn and Ryan Dillon were among the supporting...
