Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
I hope I fall into that category, because you need to be able to see both sides to every story or opinion. It would take a miracle on Disneys part to come up with something new, fresh, original AND contemporary.
I am prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt, because I dont take any...
Its going to be all of those and worse.
Di$ney have attached a couple of trendy names for their first tentative dip into murky muppet waters. So what if these guys have gone on record as saying they love the muppets... Of course she cut a deal there and then.... its not like people are...
No, but watch the credits all the way through and you will see a credit acknowledging the use of the Kermit Likeness as being a copyright / trademark that belongs to Disney. Disney brought the Muppets lock, stock and barrel... any application for a license to use the characters, be it in a small...
They wont cast a Muppeteer. They will cast an actor who they beleive can convey the story set out in the screen play.
They have a very small budget, so most of your suggestions are not valid, especially Carey.
They have optioned the screenplay, and thats about as far as itgoes. Screen plays...
working in the CGI VFX industry, I can already see the trend for Fantasy coming to a end. Pans labrynth is now two years old. Golden Compass and the Narnia series will be the last of the genre for a while once the franchise is fully wrapped.
The genre got a much needed boost with LOTR and...
1: I think Gendy is a bad choice of dperson to helm this feature.
2: I think studios faith in Hensons as a creative outlet has diminished since Jims death and subsequent sell off / buy back / sell off.
Those two points really do plant the sequal in the DTV arena.
However.... and as much as I...
Whilst going through all my old Muppet stuff, I came across this 12x8 glossy pic taken at the very emotional memorial service held for Jim Henson a fortnight after his passing.
Puppeteers are, from Left to right
Karen prell, Sue Dacre, Marcus Clarke, Dave Goelz, Dave Barclay, Frank Oz, Steve...
...which would in theory bring them full circle, back to square one.
Unfortunately, UK TV does not have a modern day Lew Grade.... Even his son Michael would not take such a ballsy risk.
If ITV picked it up, it would become another Ant & Dec type show. If the BBC picked it up, it would be...
Thanks for the youtube clips.
Proves my point 100%.
French Puppeteers lip syncing to voice actors.
A: The Puppeteering, even without the voice is below par.
B: They are so used to performing on their version of Spitting Image (Le Gignol (?) ) that they bring that OTT style of...
I was in full agreement till you mentioned Lois & Clark ;)
Jacobson has some pretty big shoes to fill.... and with that in mind, I think you would go that extra mile to ensure a snug fit. Im sorry, but from what I have seen, he is going to need more than just a shoe horn...
Its not whether...
just write to Lylle Breier and suggest she get of her creative "***" and start creating or hiring creatives that still have some degree of passion and integrity left.
See, this is how long I have distanced myself from the Henson thing....... I didnt even know about Puppet Heap.
Looking at their gallery, they seem competant enough but all I have to say (albeit almost 2 years after the fact.......) ... ah, it looks like the forum actually doesnt allow me to...
I think, looking at all those clips, that the biggest issue with whoever is performing the pig these days is "timing". There appears to be no flow in the performance... almost as if it were "piggy by numbers"...
Its a real shame... because even the presenters at the press junket looked bored...
I saw Piggy on the Bafta show.
Voice was way off
Puppeteering looked like it was suffering due to space restrictions under the set
Timing was very poor. A very bad opening to an equally poor show.
A shadow of the genius that was the original Parky / Piggy interview.
Sad to see.
Kynan,
I think you are missing the point here, or making one **** of a mountain out of a mole hill.
A: They're not yours to save. At the end of the day, they are a business asset. A consumable product, no different from a Big Mac or the Golden Arches.... what they do with them is up to them...
