Considering that Disney is going to soon be launching its own streaming service as a rival to Netflix, I doubt they'd do a Netflix series. More likely, they will wait until their own Disney streaming service is launched, and then produce a muppet series (or whatever) exclusively for that.
Yeah, I used to watch that one, too. That's what made it entertaining-- Kermit's dismissive/insulting attitude towards Piggy, followed by Piggy hitting him so hard he went flying across the stage. Civility among puppets isn't really entertaining.
Listening to Matt sing Rainbow Connection, I have to say I'm really impressed. It's one thing to imitate a character well when just talking, but to also nail it when singing is another challenge, and Matt did nail it. I remember when I first heard Steve's Kermit singing "One More Sleep Til...
I just watched the interview video now, and I have to say, I'm impressed! To me, this is the closest we've gotten to Jim's Kermit since, well, Jim. Way to go, Matt!
Very well put.
Jim's Kermit had a "I'm surrounded by idiots" expression a lot of the time, which was genuinely funny because we've all had that feeling at times, especially when trying to organize something. And it was believable that Jim's Kermit was running things. Steve's Kermit didn't...
Jim's Kermit had a sort of "rubbery" quality to the voice, if that makes any sense (probably not... lol.) I rarely hear that aspect of his voice when other people do the character. Steve didn't really have it, and I don't hear it in Matt's yet.
Jim's Kermit was lower-pitched than Steve's, though, so if you're saying Matt's Kermit is lower in register, wouldn't that make it more like Jim's than Steve's? I'm not familiar with Matt's Robin, but if his Robin has a low register, it must sound drastically different from the original Robin...
It's not quite there yet, but the potential is obviously there. Jim's Kermit will always be the best for me, it's what I grew up with. Steve gradually grew into the role, same as Matt will, I'm sure. For whatever reason, Steve's Kermit actually sounded a bit worse by the end (there was a...
Keep in mind that "not bad" was exactly how many people described Steve's Kermit when he first took over. Gradually, people got used to it, and now plenty of people miss it.
I really doubt it. As I said before, I think it's much more likely that the Hensons had issues with Steve for a while, but kept quiet because he was still employed by the Muppets. Aftet he got fired, they may have continued to keep quiet, but when they saw all the fans attacking Disney and...
To be fair, though, I don't think the average kid who goes into a movie theater to watch a muppet movie is going to care (or even know) about the behind-the-scenes politics. If Disney manages to put out some quality Muppet productions, and if Matt does a good job in the role, that's ultimately...
Right. Or, as is more commonly done, they could record the dialogue afterwards (having another puppeteer supply temporary dialogue while filming.)
Actually, my bigger concern, more than the voices, is what sort of chemistry Matt and Eric have. What really made Jim's Kermit great wasn't his...
That's definitely a valid concern. On the other hand, Big Bird and Oscar had quite a number of scenes together throughout SS's history, and both were handled by Carol Spinney, so it's certainly do-able. If Matt's Kermit is really the best Kermit they can get, then I think they can make it work.
Yeah, one aspect of Jim's Kermit that I missed during Steve's years was his exasperation. The "Comedian's a Bear" sketch (posted on the previous page) is a good example of how funny Kermit could be when he was exasperated. The tantrum in the Christmas special was quite different. That was a...
Seems unlikely to me.
What I think is more likely (again, pure speculation on my part) is that the Henson kids didn't get along well with Steve for quite a while, but they kept quiet because he was still employed by the Muppets/Disney, and there was no upside to saying anything. But then Steve...
Steve's Kermit always sounded different from Jim's. I think Eric Jacobson does a better job matching Frank's characters than Steve did matching Jim's (not to say Steve's were bad at all, but they were definitely different.) I just gradually got used to Steve's versions. But, I felt he sounded...
Yeah, regardless of whether or not people like Disney as a business, there's absolutely no way anyone can reasonably deny that Disney products, films, etc have brought a lot of joy to a lot of people for the past several decades.
(and I also agree with the suggestion of keeping politics out of...
I'm really curious to hear how Matt's Kermit will sound and act.
To be honest, I never quite got used to Steve's Kermit (and yes, I know that's insane, considering how long he's been doing it.) It wasn't just the voice, there was something about the personality that felt a bit different to...
Although I was excited for The Muppets when it was first announced, I can't honestly say I care if it gets renewed. I watched the first few episodes and thought they fluctuated between "ok" and "not good." I kept watching out of some sense of loyalty since I grew up as a big fan of the...
