In the Christmas Eve episode, Hooper wishes Bob a merry Christmas. Bob responds by saying, "Happy Hanukkah."
Was this because Hooper was Jewish, or was it a way to reach out to the Jewish viewers?
Anyone rember this?
I think it was a bunch of kids in a dance studio playing with hula hoops. Gordon was the only familiar grownup. As they played/ danced, they sang this:
"One for the money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Four to go
Five reach the sky
Six way up high
Seven...
Let me take a crack:
Pawns: anything muppets
Castles: Count
Horses: Grover/ Elmo (on a horse)
Bishops: Ernie/ Bert
Queen: Kermit (in a wig)
King: Big Bird
Great episode. A lady muppet goes into a coat store looking for a blue fur coat. Store guy first gives her a blue not furry coat. Then he gives her a furry not blue coat.
Then she spots Cookie Monster, throws him over her shoulder, and says "perfect, put it on my bill" (or something like...

Looks like a great find for lots of 1969-1977 episodes!
These songs had humor, spunk, and rythm. Add to this list your favorites by him. Those early songs are classics. Who would think of "I Love Trash," "C is for Cookie," or, "Rubber Duckie" today?
Anyone remember this: David and Maria have agreed to meet at the bridge in a park. They get there at the same time, but one goes to the upper part of the bridge, and the other goes to the lower. They each figure that the other must be in the other place, so they, at the same time, go to the...
Growing up, the human characters on SS had lots of great interactions among themselves. They were a family. They were my family. They spoke with us, not down to us. I don't get that feeling anymore.
Didn't BB used to always bump into his doorpost whenever he left his room? Now he ducks (punn intended) all the time. When did this change, and was there an educational lesson in it?
Most episodes end with a short closing theme. But once in a while, the music went into "It's a magic carpet ride...."
Few questions:
1) How often did this occur? Once a week?
2) Was this the only space where the actor's credits were given?
3) What was on the screen during this music...
There are far too many to narrow it to one, so I'll arbitrarily pick "a" favorite for now....
The skit where Ernie can't sleep, so Bert suggests he counts sheep. But every sheep that Ernie counts audibly goes, "bahhh."
So Bert suggests that Ernie count something else. So Ernie counts...
I have a very vague memory (from, say, 1974) of an anything muppet that looked like guy smiley in the following sketch.
Guy smiley (or whoever) is singing some song, and in the background there is a girl. Whatever the girl goes near, the structure falls apart. (If it's a tree, it falls...
I know this opinion will be unpopular, BUT....
Back in the 70's, SS was such a brilliant show. The humor was at an adult level. It was not a "cutsie" type of thing. Ernie and Bert had chemisty. Kermit had decorum. Grover had charm. Guy Smiley had arrogance. Don Music had irony. Prarie Dawn had...
