I was watching Season 1 of The Muppet Show with my daughter last week, and was trying to figure out how they were able to get Fozzie's ears to wiggle. Anyone have an idea?
How do you guys hold two rod arms when performing? I have seen different ways of holding them (in an x, parallel, etc), but wasn't sure which was the most efficient.
I'm sure this has already been a topic, but I couldn't find it. Thanks for your input.
i finally got my lazy tail in gear, and finished up my second puppet a few months back. and i finally have a few pics to show. she was totally experimental. i wanted to make a puppet w/ a square head, so i made a box out of foam, and sewed the head to fit it like a sock. criticism is welcome...
i'm on the hunt for some info on good stitches (preferably something free w/ pictures :D )
i can sew, and it holds. i just want to find cleaner stitches. i've heard that the infamous "henson stitch" was criss-crossed like a tight baseball stitch. problem is that i don't even know what the...
over the last week or so i've looked over a lot of the current and past threads in the puppetry forum, and i just wanted to thank everyone that's contributed. i feel that the info i've received on here has been extremely helpful. it's really one of the coolest puppetry communities that i've...
so after looking at some of the puppets on axtell's website, and reading the recent thread created by Iokitek (Looking for some good links on building puppets), i decided to go ahead and post this.
have any of you builders had much success with latex puppets? pictures would be great if you...
man...since we had my daughter i've totally been stuck in a puppet-making-rut. i have a few ideas (still want to finish that "recycled" puppet), but alas...no time.
what do you guys do when you get stuck in a building rut? maybe not even due to time...maybe because of writer's block, etc.
so the other day i decided to use bits of foam that i had left over from another puppet i made to make a new puppet. the head looks pretty cool so far...i just glued 1-2 inch thick strips of foam on top of each other until the head was formed. so that's part one.
the next part is where i'm...
hey all...the children's church that i work with made a promotional poster, and they included a shot of one of my puppets. go here or here. they're both the same poster, but the second one has my puppet highlighted. it's nothing fancy, but it was my first completed puppet and i'm pretty proud of...
ok...you all know what the hair on a troll doll looks like, right? i'd love to have something similar to that for a few of my puppets. i like the bright colors and the way it stands up. any suggestions on what to use to get this look? thanks in advance! :)
hey guys and girls...just wanted to let you know that my wife and i had our first baby on 1/5/04!!! :) she's a beautiful girl, and her name is Aiden Paige Deaton. go here (http://photos.yahoo.com/isaacdeaton) to see her picture. you know i have to show her off!! :D

i just picked up a few yards of foam and some 3M super 77 adhesive spray from joann's fabric. i've used some crappy sprays in the past, but thought i'd give this one a shot. any feedback on it?
i just finished making an experimental puppet out of some materials in my house (old fleece blanket my dog chewed on, pillow stuffing, cardboard, tshirt, ping pong balls...). i made the mistake of using crazy glue on the mouth and eyelids. not cool. :concern: it bleached the color of both the...
i've seen some of the puppets that you guys have made, and i'm very impressed with some of them. i was just wondering where you all started or learned to start up building puppets.
i'm very much a self-taught puppeteer/builder of about 10 years, so i look forward to learning from...
