Yeah, water-based is best. If you use reticulated foam paint shouldn't break down the foam as quickly either. If you can't get an airbrush then just try brushing the paint on.
Well, if by contact glue you mean something like model airplane cement then no, they are different. "Contact cement" in puppet building usually refers to an all-purpose contact cement like LePages or Barge (which is what the Muppet builders use).
Small Nerf balls are usually sold at Toys R...
It's best to follow the directions on the dye you use. Most brands have a detailed info sheet you can follow. You could also go to your local library and check out a book on textiles that covers fabric dye processes.
Names of other recurring Canadian Muppets I remember:
Margaret Redwood (Margaret Atwood), a storyteller
Hana Gardener, (Hana Gardner), an agricultural expert
*The names in brackets are the names of the Canadian celebrities these characters are based on.
CBC began taping Canadian segments that were inserted in to Sesame Street Canada beginning in 1970. At first I believe these were segments in French to replace the Spanish ones or those that were distinctly American in the U.S. version to keep the show relevant to Canadian audiences and in line...
BTW - Yes, using a Nerf (foam) ball if you can find one the right size is usually easier than making one out of foam sheets, but you'll have to carve out the innards. Toys R Us periodically carries them in Canada and the U.S. - I am not sure if they are available to order online.
Heh heh...they don't teach you everything in the foam book, eh? :zany:
I have no idea how Bunsen is constructed, but to make a perfectly round ball in foam you need to cut eight "wedges" that are exactly (and I do mean exactly) the same size. By a wedge I mean a shape like what you would get...
If it's a pain getting Aljo, RIT and Tintex dyes also work very well and are usually available at a Drug Store or through stores like Wal-Mart and K Mart. Personally, I prefer RIT to Tintex.
No, sorry - that's a tough one. I don't think I've ever seen that anywhere. You could probably make it by getting some mohair that's a light colour, dying it blue and clipping it so it's a close match. Mohair is usually available locally from dealers who sell Teddy Bear making supplies.
If...
That's actully not entirely true. I've done several puppets with regular fleece and the seams are not visble. It's possible to disguise them in natural "folds" in the puppet's "skin" as well as to airbrush or paint details on to the fabric which conceal the seams. There are also types of polar...
The CD of the soundtrack is currently available in Canada, I believe my wife (a big John Denver fan) has seen it in discount CD racks along with the more common Xmas album.
I believe the characters are (were) owned by Henson and licensed to CBC. Presumably, Sesame Workshop's deal to buy "Sesame" character rights included the international Sesame characters as well.
There were other incidental characters as well - a Margaret Atwood character (I can't recall the...
Just to answer the first half of the original question, Little Muppet Monsters was a short-lived half-hour (or was it 15 minute? I can't recall) show that ran following Muppet Babies during it's first season. I don't remember if it even lasted 12 episodes, but it was kind of a neat show. A bunch...
