They will scale with their Sesame Street line and their Sesame Street line scales well enough with Palisades. However, we need to remember that Palisades Muppet figures are over 20 years old now. The fact that NECA even made an attempt to scale with the Palisades figures shows they care enough...
The thing about "One Muppet one voice" is that it doesn't mean a performer shouldn't be recast. It just means one performer at a time. Also, it should be noted that Sesame Workshop didn't do things that way, though for different reasons.
David and Eric took over for Frank Oz, Frank would still...
Piggy has grown on me a bit and as long as they do a second head with an open mouth I think I'm good with the look. I'm surprised Kermit is not in wave one of this line. That seems rather bold to do Piggy first. I hope wave 2 is very soon after with Kermit, Fozzie, and maybe Lew Zealand or Beau...
I think Steve was right in the sense that there should only ever be one performer of a character at a time. There shouldn't be a "B" team for The Muppets. At least not the core cast. No one should be wondering which Kermit they were going to get. However, while there should only be one main...
Turns out he has both letters, which is nice. Looks like extra hands as well. The inside flap of the box shows Super Grover in front of a green phone booth that doesn't appear to be in the box. Could that be the Palisades one they used in the photo?
I'm glad to see Super Grover, but it doesn't...
Im surprised the surprise figure is Super Grover, but it does make sense. They are already tooling the regular one and looks like the Super Grover accessories are separate pieces. Nice to see how much articulation they are able to put in there. I love the Palisades one, but it can't do much...
I'm surprised they are going with the actual Muppet Show designs, including the heads. That Piggy is a proper ugly early season Piggy. Same with Gonzo. There is a little sign in the back that says pending approval so I guess we will see what Disney changes.
They basically made an episode of The Muppet Show instead of doing a longer special that could have had everything thrown in.
If the special was an hour, or 45 min without commercials, they could have done everything, put it would have felt crowded. If anything, part of the back stage plot was...
To me, Kermit was the most in character he's been in a long time. He lost his cool when he needed too, but didn't feel constantly frantic or sad. Matt did a fantastic job.
I only laughed out loud once, which sounds bad, but I rarely laugh out loud when watching something alone. The part that...
When Steve was let go he literally begged Disney to let him do the Live Muppet Show and I think he said he would do it for free. It's really disingenuous for him to say he had let go of The Muppets in 2005. He pleaded to get his job back for quite some time after he was fired.
The fact is, no...
It depends on what Disney wants. The one that it matters for most is Poggy, though. Even if Disney really wants the most current looks, the other characters can be cheated to whatever era NECA wants. Piggy, however, has very specific looks from decade to decade, or even year to year on TMS.
Sal was the one that got away 20 years ago, but I don't see him being done anytime soon.
As you referenced, we should expect to see characters that "normies" know. Snowths and Manah Manah are probably a shoe in, which would be great since we dont have them in this scale.
I doubt we will see...
I get where you are coming from, but Palisades was over 20 years ago. Some of my figures plastic is getting brittle. Some accessories scattered to time. And if there is ever going to be a time for another Muppet Show line, this is the same.
Tbh, I didn't think we would see Muppet figures this soon from NECA. I figured it would be a another year or more. So glad to see these coming, possibly this year. This may be why the Sesame stuff is spaced out. While they are separate licenses, I'm sure NECA doesn't want to flood the market...
IT'S HAPPENING!!! OMG!
While I loved the DST line, I can not wait to see what to see what NECA does with this! The old Palisades stuff is great, but I need a Kermit with some midern articulation and swappable parts.
To me the entire post Steve made was rather passive aggressive. He claims no disrespect to Matt, but the entire post is about how Kermit is souless and just throwing on a green sock with ping pong balls doesn't make it Kermit and so on. He basically trashes Matt taking on Kermit without directly...
