Okay now here's a rarity: a tip on posing a Kermit replica from someone who doesn't HAVE a Kermit replica! (As much as i would dearly love the Muppet replicas in words i can't describe, the financial **** i've been in the last couple years makes purchasing anything over $50 really stretching...
Vince Fontaine is indeed a great part! I played it my junior year of high school and though it was a little disappointing that he didn't have any songs, it was an opportunity to do a lot of other fun stuff with my voice (all my life, i've been told i have a perfect radio announcer voice, and...
This weekend i got a special treat to meet one of my all time fave Muppet performers, Fran Brill. She's doing presentations about her life as a Muppeteer and came to Arizona to do several at various libraries and one that was done in conjunction with the touring "Jim Henson's Fantastic World"...
Yep - that same nitpick is pointed out in MC's episode guide.
Obviously a result of redoing the backstage plot when they modified that episode from its original test pilot version (also detailed in MC's ep guide).
Still, i'm surprised no one caught that error when they were reworking the...
Yeah -that was the first appearance of Gonzo, or more exact, the PUPPET that would later become Gonzo. Though it was the same puppet that would be turned into Gonzo the Great six years later, it wouldn't be fair to say that that was "Gonzo" in the special...especially since he had a different...
I imagine Gobo was on his way to see the Trash Heap before he was intercepted.
As for Wembley jumping in, as Red explains to Cotterpin in her Fraggle Lessons, (paraphrasing) "swimming is the greatest, most Fraggle-y thing there is"...and we all know how Wembley likes to echo other people so...
I'm sure it would differ from person to person but i wouldn't be at all surprised that overall cast members enjoy the reduced number of episodes...they're probably paid way less, but think of what it must have been like in the early days!
They were cranking out hour long shows to be shown...
This is without a doubt my alltime fave sesame album as it was representative of Sesame at its peak - characters (Muppet and human) at top of their form and hilarious throughout.
Which of course makes picking a fave moment almost impossible but three come to mind...
the opening - very...
That's actually one of my fave things about the song - it sounds like this huge massive celebration but the lyrics are totally cynical and ironic...add the mix of popular, obscure, and one-off characters, the incredible music and some great vocal performances (man i am so pleased that the volume...
I am a HUGE longtime Julie Brown fan ever since her "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" music video. I even remember when there was all this huge news that MTV was getting a SIXTH VJ (yes, back in those ancient days when not only did they PLAY music videos but had five video jockeys that were...
The voice Frank uses for TR is a lot like the one he uses for the jug band member in the Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor number (the one that asks, I don't know, how DO you drive a baby buggy?)
As i said in the guide, the original opening theme goes on and on and on...
They shortened it (WISELY!) and i suspect the extra verse in the Joel Gray episode (the earliet TMS episode which was not reworked later) was written to kind of consolidate the other verses that were dropped (all the...
d.w. weighs in
Okay ive watched almost all of the set (ive been watching a dvd a day and will watch the Muppet Show episodes on disc 4 tomorrow (though ive already watched the bonue features)
I know the Jim Henson retrospective was cut due to space but i wonder why the world premiere...
MTR doesn't have all the Muppet Show episodes; only between 30-40 of them (they don't have any version of Connie Stevens.) Some are the full 25 1/2 minute versions; others are the 23 1/2 non UK versions.
Finch must have had access to the original version when he wrote OMAM since not only...
No, sorry...MTR just had Juliet Prowse.
But maybe with some encouragement from all of us, Disney can include the original Prowse and Stevens episodes as extras on future TMS box sets :)
Okay...so the dvds have cuts. This is too late to change. So the practical question is...what do we do about them? To buy or not to buy?
My reccomendation is buy the dvds. Show your support for the fact that (cuts aside), Disney did largely try to put something very special together...how...
themes
I hate to be a bubble burster here, but even if we get the original first season opening themes (and this shouldnt even be a question of *if*...if there are still debates going on with the dvd team about whether to include them or not, we should all set them straight as to why not...
Dont feel bad...it confused just about everyone.
What happened was those were scenes that were scripted and filmed for the previous episode *Crichton Kicks*. However they did not end up in the final cut due to time constraints. Since it was felt that they wouldnt have worked inside the What...
