Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
Then again, seeing as this is Jim's ship, it's unlikely that they'd make the crew wear uniforms (unless jeans, sweatshirts and sneakers are considered a uniform).
And meanwhile, the captain would start barking at Gus about why one of the boats is missing...
Yeah, the interviews said that...
Right - and those characters were played by performers (Jim, Frank, Jerry, Carroll) who were in the company before Richard came in. Those first years on SS were Richard's apprenticeship; with TMS, however, Richard was elevated to the ranks of the principal performers.
All things considered...
Very true, heralde. It'll be a cold day in a certain very warm place when I look back on my middle school days with warm fuzzy feelings of nostalgia. It's the elementary school hijinks combined with the raging adolescent hormones - a lethal combination in many ways.
I was never a paper girl...
Well, I imagine the cast had to make room for characters from all of the Big Three shows, as well as the interviews. Even on a big, impressive tribute show, there are time and disk space limits.
Went back and had another listen tonight. It's fun to hear all those stories again, about the...
Wow - if that were available on CD, that'd be really (or rully) sweet.
And the man who took Richard's ashes off to Venice and scattered them turned out to be a published poet - and that letter he sent to Jane was...it was amazing.
I also liked that one story that David told, about the...
And it's a well-planned episode with plenty of laugh-inducing and heart-rending stories; I mean, Richard was a prince, and this episode proves it.
But, whatever you say, Richie... ;)
(leans over, picks up megaphone, points it in Steve's direction)
"YOUR FACE!"
(sets megaphone down)...
I just listened to it on the site's popup player, myself.
Nice reading, heralde, very nice. And it harkens back to how all the ordinary people who do great things for the world usually don't get as much attention as people who are self-centered, egotistical (and at the far end of the...
I've said this already in the "Remembering Richard Hunt" thread, but I'll say it again:
Steve, you really delivered the goods on this show of shows, and I take my hat off to you. You gave Richard a tribute befitting his status as A-plus puppeteer, director and Muppet captain. (And I think...
Scooter: Aw...thanks, you guys.
Nora: Woof...too much garlic-peanut butter popcorn.
Beige: Aw, come on, you just had a little bit - Junior could eat enough to fill this room.
Erin: But if you look closely, Beige, you'll see that Nora is not a Gorg, but a standard-sized Muppet.
Storyteller...
And about Richard chastising the litterbug who was at the wheel of the Rolls-Royce: I wonder just what exactly he yelled at the driver...and how much of it can't be repeated in polite company.
And there were the stories about Beaker's Breakers: if I understood correctly, it was a house that...
And how Richard was an accomplished treader of the boards in high school...and he apparently was an assistant stage manager as well...and Pete Coogan's memories of how Richard loved to imitate the northern English accents - that must have been worth hearing...
And the real reason Gus...
Wow...Steve, you really delivered the goods on that one. I take my hat off to you - that is, if I had a hat on my head...
Wait a moment: (picks up brown newsboy cap - similar in style to the gray tweed one Richard wore, puts it on, and doffs it) I take my hat off to you, man.
And I think...
I know...I mean, there's just so much stuff on there that we didn't know about Richard before. So many incredible stories - like that one story Jane told - the one when Richard, while driving to a friend's house, spotted a young woman (apparently about to commit suicide) crying her eyes out by a...
(kitchen table has been moved out to common room, where it is set with a kettle of steaming hot chocolate, bowls of popcorn (peppermint and garlic-peanut butter), pitchers of orange juice and plates of chocolate-covered donuts - the five occupants are huddled around Erin's radio, mugs of...
Winslow, listening to your description of really good Mexican food, I remember one line in the movie "My Favorite Year," in which the main character is describing some very spicy Chinese food to his girlfriend. "One taste and your tongue dials the fire department." :)
But I do have a few...
Scooter: (getting off phone) That was Steve. Richard's tribute's going to air tomorrow night, 'cause there's a lot of stuff to sort through.
Erin: Wow...maybe we were a little too enthusiastic in sending in our thoughts.
Storyteller: (stirring a pot of stew on stove) Now, now, Richard never...
Right on. Richard got the proverbial golden handshake at the age of 18.
And I checked the MuppetCast page: Richard's big moment will appear tomorrow night, according to Steve. Which is just as well - I have my first class of the term at nine tomorrow morning.
In the meantime...
Scooter: (reading update on RH tribute show) Wow, look at this!
Nora: (coming over) What's going on!
Scooter: It looks like there's going to be an interview with Richard's mom!
(chorus of oohs and "way cools" all around)
Beige: Wow...Steve's got connections.
Storyteller: Mm, yes...and oh...
Ah, yes - the scene with Larry the locker-room shrink and Nick the princess stalker. And judging from the look on Richard's face, he's probably thinking, "What a nut."
To this day, I'm still wondering how Richard got himself roped into doing a walk-on in that flick. I guess someone on the...
