    Hogan's Hereos Remake Planned

Hogan's Heroes, Three Stooges, how many more examples do you need of "Don't fix it if it ain't broke?" Not that I'm prophesying or anything, but it will be a cold day if and when they ever make a Gilligan movie. (Not counting the late 70's reunite-the-original-cast-and-stick-them...

    Questions about anything

I remember a few years ago when a radio DJ asked people on the street in New York if they could name all four Beatles, they'd get a hundred bucks. It took the better part of an hour before somebody won. Just like when the Muppet movie came out a year ago. Some people couldn't pick Kermit out...

    Questions about anything

Some of my favorite bands from the 60's- Yardbirds, The Nice, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and especially Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention-all had weak singers. But some of these bands' best works were instrumentals, so that balances the scales a little.

    Questions about anything

Back in 1982, my freshman year in high school, everybody else was getting into the then-brand-spanking-new MTV, while myself and a few select others were still digging The Beatles, Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Doors, etc., and WE were the geeks! The other 99% of my high school thought The Human...

    Questions about anything

AND FURTHERMORE...... 1. Many people won't stray too far from the "Flavor of the Month", whatever happens to be hot RIGHT NOW. 2. Some people don't want to dig too deep into music history. Some think any music made before they were born must be boring, or something their parents listened to...

    Any KISS fans?

Back in 1977, I was nine, I got dressed up as Ace for Halloween. My sister gave me a wig and made up my face, my dad cut out a guitar made from plywood, and I was Dressed to Kill!:). My favorite Halloween costume ever. Played the records (not cd's or iTunes, we're talking RECORDS!) til the...

What year did it all change for the worst?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sesame Street has gradually lost momentum ever since Jim died. The Muppets were the core of the show, and he was the rudder that steered the ship. Without a rudder, the only direction you ship can go in is circles. Since Jim's death, Sesame Workshop...

    Dark Side of the Moon

Atom Heart is an acquired taste. They tried doing a side-long piece with Ron Geesin conducting an orchestra and choir, and it has some nice moments, but nobody was too happy with it. Roger Waters: "I wouldn't mind if it was thrown in the dustbin and never listened to ever again!" However...

    Dark Side of the Moon

"Wish You Were Here" and "Meddle" might have had some better songs, but "Dark Side" stands as a seamless, perfect whole. Maybe even TOO perfect, but hard to deny a 50 million-plus-selling album with your name on it.

Show That Have Overstayed Their Welcome

OOPS! Big goof on my part! What would my Psych 101 professor think of me now? Actually, calling it that, might've lengthened Rugrats' run another season or two. Maybe also upgraded it to a TVY7 rating. Maybe.

Show That Have Overstayed Their Welcome

For a while, (during Saget's run) it seemed like AFV had it geared so the baby/little kids videos would win so the family could win the trip to Disney World. (Can't disappoint the little carpetmunchers, can we?) So, studio audience, are you going to vote for "Drooling Baby" or "Cat Lights Tail...

    Dark Side of the Moon

40 years and 50 million copies ago, Pink Floyd released their sonic masterpiece, The Dark Side of the Moon. Many of the songs have become FM radio staples, and have touched on such universal themes as isolation, going crazy, time(or lack of), money(or lack of), and how all of us on one planet...

    Questions about anything

Why do they call it red cabbage when it's not red? It's purple. And if you cook it down, it becomes a darker shade of purple with tinges of blue, but no red. They got green beans right. Oranges are a no-brainer. Maybe the powers-that-be who name the foods are color-blind. My theory anyway.

    Comic book readers

Although they're not as common as they used to be, I love browsing through comic book shops. I was never big on superheroes, but LOVED the funnies! Gimme a Dell Giant Bugs Bunny from the 50's and I'm a happy guy. One of my favorite series ever was Vicki Wyman's Xanadu (late 80's-early 90's)...

The "Who Has An Accent?" Thread

My grandfather came over from Ireland in 1927, and I've seemed to inherit his brogue. More than once, people have stopped me and thought from my accent I've just got off the boat, but I was born and bred here. Then to compound matters, others thought I have some Southern inflections, despite...

Overused Songs in Movies or TV

That episode of Full House where the girls get up onstage to join in with "Barbara Ann"...pass me the bucket, I need to hurl. I love the Beach Boys, but "Kokomo" got rubbed into the ground, too.
