Vent Style tends to have the entrance in the head. This makes it easier for a ventriloquist to perform with their puppet out in the open. Not so easy if you want it on a stage since your hand kind of shows....however on the Ernie puppet we've found that you can slide your hand up his shirt and...
I do puppetry as part of my job (I am also a teacher at a Christian school). I don't make puppets but I direct/write/ and perform. That being said I don't think they'd keep me around if I didn't teach as well. Good luck with your idea Puppetainer. Where abouts in Wisconsin are you (I always...
This group is trying to make a world record for the most puppets gathered in one display. I don't know if anyone is participating in this but you can find info at www.millionpuppets.com. My 4th grade students made some puppets using a pattern from John Kennedy's "Puppet Mania" book.
I saw the movie last night and loved it. Personally I think the whole point of the cameo was the fact that they wanted to show this was a magical place (come on isn't Kermit the first thing most of us here think of when we think of magic). I took my one year old daughter and she behaved and...
Our puppet ministry team is trying to put up a monthly sitcom on our web site. We did one ten minute episode (though when your limited by budget and time the results aren't always perfect). Anyways you can check it out at www.rwwpuppets.com. Thanks.
I've had my tickets to this one for a month or so... we make it a family tradition to go the Friday after Thanksgiving. I never felt that even with Elmo's name in the title that it has been particularly elmo centric.
I did like the second volume of the manga better than the first (it seems to be coming together more coherently as a story). The best part so far is Jareth's line about the "Hardships unumbered" that Sarah had to suffer.
Use music. Maybe have puppets do a choreographed song. You can play a tape and have them lip synch. I admit I have no idea what song you could use (maybe a sesame street one) since I ussually do religious performances. We ussually for a performance like that do a skit, switch puppeteers and do...
I have Ernie...very fun but more of a vent style puppet (though you can slide your hand up his shirt to get to the slot in his head. Very big and a huge hit with kids.
I use students starting at 5th grade- high school. I never had an issue with recruiting (in fact some times I have too many kids involved). One thing I learned is just because it is religious material your working with doesn't mean it does not have to be fun and humorous. I write my own skits so...
I attended Wizard World Chicago as Press this year covering the con with a puppet. Check out the coverage at www.myspace.com/puppetprojects. the videos and photos are in the blog section.
