I don't know if you guys heard about this, but back in October, someone broke into our shop and stole two of the Melonpool puppets. I pretty much knew I'd never see them again, but I waited until this week to start rebuilding them.
Anyway, I've been documenting the builds on Instagram, so if...
Hi all!
I'm still in the middle of promoting my Kickstarter campaign to fund my puppet movie and have a lot of postcards left over to help spread the word. Does anyone have any experience with getting these types of things into record stores/coffee shops/comic stores? I know that a lot of...
Hi All!
I've been trying to consolidate all the making of material on the epic puppet film I've been working on for the last few years in one place. Right now, that's on Facebook -- so if you have an account, I'd love to get your feedback here:

Thanks!
As much as I hate to see him go, I'm going to have to sell my Master Replicas Kermit Photo Puppet to make money for Christmas. I'm hoping that since he's #86 out of the 2500 produced, he might fetch a decent price. He's never been displayed and only posed 2 or so times. He has no marks or...

I hadn't seen this one before today, but it goes into some pretty good detail as to how they used digital effects to augment what the puppeteers could do in the new movie, rather than replacing them with CGI characters...
I know I've posted here about the progress on my little film before here, but rather than resurrecting that old post, I thought I'd start one that actually had the project name int he title.
Last weekend, we made some headway on the main set, and shot a short-short video to see how the...
So... I've been building puppets now for 17 years, and this weekend was the first time I've made custom clothes for my puppets. Actually, I didn't really do it this time either, but I took advantage of the way I've done the heads and arms this go-around to make a costume change.
What I did...
I finally bit the bullet yesterday and dyed some Antron Fleece. I had done it years before, but due to my inexperience at the time, I wasn't able to dye enough to actually dye enough at a time to make a whole puppet (just heads and hands).
Anyway, yesterday, I took the plunge again, but...
I've been building (actually rebuilding) my puppets for the epic motion picture that we've been working on for the last year or so (see previous post here).
I just finished Sam T Dogg -- actually the fifth version of this puppet. Based on a comic character I've been drawing for about three...
So, I'm going to out in an order with Georgia Stage and they mentioned that they now offer a "Flesh Color" version of the 12 oz Antron. Since all of my puppets that aren't furry use a peach color fabric anyway, I was thinking about paying the extra $4 a yard for this fabric.
I hate dyeing --...
So -- it looks like my wife lost her job. In an attempt to think of ways that I can supplement more of our income, I was wondering if it's worth my time and effort to try to build a couple of puppets for sale on ebay. I know a lot of you do this as well.
It seems that in recent years, puppets...
Has anyone ever had any success making a Bunsen Honeydew-type mouth?
Most of the puppets I've made have been more of the Kermit type mouth palette style that opens and closes, but I was thinking about trying more of the "Slit in foam" type on a few new puppets.
Anyone know what the...
So, I've been working on a rather large puppet project for the last few months after doing practically nothing puppet related for the last few years (other than designing the recent round of Nike puppets, anyway). I thought I'd share the first bit of "leaked" test footage with you guys...
So, my website, www.melonpool.com recently went through a facelift. It was a webcomic for ten years that I more or less abandoned a few years ago to focus more on puppetry.
I finally got around to converting it into a blog about puppetry, among other things. The comic was about a bunch of...
Does anyone know how Red's hair works? I'm reasonably sure I understand how Wembly or Boober's hair is constructed, but have no idea what's keeping Red's hair up in the two ponytails? Is there a styrofoam ball or wire armature in there?
I'm not building one, I've just always wondered about it.
Does anyone have tips for a way to make a prop piece of corn on the cob? The kernels don't actually have to come off, but it should be as light as possible. Suggestions or links for a place to buy would be greatly appreciated!
Did anyone else do any Muppet or puppet-related Halloween costumes this year? So, far, this is the best picture I got of mine. More probably tomorrow -- along with my wife as Shari Lewis and Lambchop!

Hi all --
I've been away from the boards for a bit, but I did something really cool this weekend that I'd like to share... I was able to modify the old (1993) Eden Kermit puppet to make him a lot more usable and more... Kermit-like.
I've had that old puppet for about 15 years -- even used him...
