Part of the reason these shows are gone is that the station was originally partially owned by Sesame Workshop. After they sold the channel fully to Nickelodeon/Viacom, the older programing left. Noggin did agree to produce a minimum of four years of Play With Me Sesame and continue airing newer...
If my memory serves correctly, you are thinking of a Sesame Street skit verses a Muppet Show one. I definitely remember this one (and liking it), some of the details are fuzzy as I probably haven't seen it in more than 20 years. All I can recall is that everything went wrong with the invention...
When you guys say pilot, I'm assuming you mean the first episode aired on November 10, 1969, correct? Not the Sesame Street pilot episode that aired in select markets during July 1969.

For those of you who saw the series a few years ago on TV, what did you like about it? Any particular stories that you hope are included on the DVD?
I agree if I was putting this together, I would have changed probably 30%-40% of it. I am thrilled though with some of these songs we will have on CD for the first time.

The Muppet Show will be back on TV in the US, these things always go in cycles. I know for awhile Hallmark (formerly Odyssey) still owned the rights to air the show even though they haven't shown it on TV since 2001.
Construction Site was in production of season 4 last summer. That's the last I have heard about any new episodes though. So they are probably done.

I'm in my early thirties, happily married and have loved the Muppets and Sesame Street all my life. I even run this place too.
There are a lot of people our age who originally saw the Muppet Show when it first ran during the 70's and early 80's who have been life-long fans.
