Vivendi to release new Fraggle Rock DVDs and other Henson Classics

Although I have all of Fraggle Rock on DVD--both the latest box set and the first three stand-alones, which I bought for the nifty extras)--I'll buy this if it has some really nifty extras. I'm talkin' international Doc & Sprocket (oh, you know) and Traveling Matt segments, and bloopers. Real...

    Fraggle fic: The Minstrel's Path

The Count: Notice how Cantus seems to do better when he doesn't talk? His own colony thinks he's a bit squirrelly. He won M'rray over, and changed some minds in the Pisca colony, without preaching because of the language barrier. charlietheowl: Maps? Cantus didn't even recognize paper! His...

    Fraggle fic: The Minstrel's Path

Me post more fishy stuff. ***** The Minstrel's Path Part 9 by Kim McFarland ***** Cantus and M'rray walked back to the underground river where they had first met. There were no other Pisca there at the moment. They would not come again until two days from tomorrow, as they only fished...

Wembley's all "Huh?" But Gobo's going, which means that Wembley's going too! As for Boober, I was thinking of a mother cat picking up a kitten by its scruff. That's why he has his legs tucked up like that.

Working arms for a very large puppet

Oh, wow! I didn't know about that video. Thanks for posting the link. I'll have to send it to my friend Kathy, who built and performed Janken's little sister Poncle (Janken being the purple Fraggle and Poncle the brown one) with me. She's visible in the 0:48 clip with Reporter Kermit. Re...

Working arms for a very large puppet

I saw you at Dragoncon, and I thought your Totoro looked wonderful. (If you saw a woman with a purple Fraggle, that was me.) Making the arms movable wound be nice, but would you be able to see what they were doing? I'm guessing that the teeth are a scrim so you can see forward. The hands...

A Nest Divided: A Sam the Eagle Story

I'm surprised Sam didn't go over to the deli and give Alex a piece of his mind. Who knows, maybe he did off-camera. The eye-opener in this chapter was Sam actually considering what kind of parent he is. For someone as self-righteous as Sam is, that's a significant paradigm shift. He's...

    Slackbot draws stuff

Thanks, guys! I may do more punk Fraggle drawings. There's potential there. Hee hee. The original Sam looks like Wallace of "Wallace and Gromit" to me. Hence the tie and sweater-vest. Which would be much more apparent if this was in color... The pic of Mokey and Wembley is based on the...

    Boiling "Punky Muppet" fur

I just used plain Rit dye, same as I use on Antron fleece, and it worked. So, I'll forego the chemistry lab. As for it rubbing off, that happens if you don't rinse the material you've dyed really well. I dyed some foam, and it left "shadows" until I worked all the excess dye out. My Janken...

    Slackbot's text sketchbook

This fic was written in a fit of nostalgia. I recently read The Wisdom of Big Bird, Carroll Spinney's memoirs, and it brought back fond memories of Sesame Street. Sing is one of the songs from that show that I can still remember word for word despite not having heard them once in over 35 years...

What are puppet eyes made from

It wouldn't cost me a thousand dollars to build a puppet, that's for sure. Fur, antron fleece, reticulated foam, and the like aren't cheap, but they aren't in the second-mortgage league either. (Ostrich feathers for hair, now that can get pricey!) Where most of the cost comes in, I suspect...

What are puppet eyes made from

Some Fraggle eyes are fishing bobbers, so I've heard. Basically, it's "whatever works." For my Janken Fraggle puppet I used large eye hemispheres from Out of the Box Puppets, attached to styrpfoam balls that were then covered with fleece for eyelids. For Skeeter I used plastic spoons. At...

    Boiling "Punky Muppet" fur

I've done some experimenting with a swatch of white Punky Muppet fur, and it actually will take Rit dye. Only grudgingly, and it'll clearly require several rounds to get a decent depth of color, but it is possible. Heh, cool.

A Nest Divided: A Sam the Eagle Story

I'm finally catching up on this. I hate getting behind on fics I like to read. So why do I do it? Dunno. Derp. I'm liking Hillary more now. That was a nice scene with her and Robin. Sometimes it just takes a bit of explanation to make bizarre concepts make sense. I remember having a hard...
