Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
It's also similar to when Jim was selling to Disney so that he can concentrate on more of the creative stuff (AT the company) and not do any management responsibilities. Is that the case here? I don't really what Jim's official title was.
Didn't Disney offer $300 million for JHC early last year? It justs seems surprising that EM.TV would let Henson go for that cheap.
Brian wants to produce and direct. For Henson and/or outside Henson? He better still perform. I know John Henson doesn't work for the company, but he still...
So Brian (and Cheryl) are no longer officially with the Company and the Henson Foundation? Will he still direct/produce and more importantly, perform characters for Henson?
Now I have something to write for my research paper. If Henson gets sold next week, it would help me out A LOT. :-)
There are a lot of great moments. One that sticks out to me is when the Muppets sing "Just One Person" in the finale of "The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson."
Makes sense. Would this mean Disney (or whoever) would have to wait 'til 2050(!) for German rights to these shows or would this not affect them at all?
Yeah I know, but STILL. Oh, that's brings up something else. I remember reading the article, "The Muppet Show won't belong to EM.TV until 2050." What does that mean? I still don't get it. Could you or someone explain it in laymen's terms?
I'm still confused about how and/or why Henson sold to EM.TV. Did Henson put itself up for sale in mid- or late-1999? People keep saying EM.TV bid twice as much money than other Hollywood studios did. Were Disney, Viacom, etc. in talks with Henson in 1999/2000 or what? I just want to know how...
Yeah, I was wondering if Rivkin would be fired or not if Disney (or whoever) bought Henson.
Concerning Disney animated films, I (meaning me) feel if Disney does a good job on the film, and adapt the story to film better than anyone else can, it could still be an enjoyable film, whether it's...
Yeah, although Disney is widely considered the most likely buyer of Henson, and probably (hopefully) WILL buy them, I still sometimes have this feeling way back in my head that Disney doesn't buy them. What if I wake up one Monday morning, go to "AOL Business News," type "Muppets," and after all...
You know, I was just about to ask this question and I didn't even know this discussion was up!
Could Jim Hill be waiting (as we all are) for Henson to be sold?
Well, those are the REAL Disney Channels, the others are Disney's "non-Disney" channels, I guess you can say. But Disney owns 100% of the ABC and Disney Channels, and significant stakes in the others, and, oh, you know how Disney is!
Disney also owns part of the "style" network through E! Networks. To see Miss Piggy on that! :-)
Man, glad I don't live in San Francisco.
Also, it's "kind of" a different (in other words, ZOOGIFIED) Disney Channel than when MT was on there. Yet, they have recently played MTI and MFS on...
Or possibly even put many of the Henson productions on ABC Family. If people see all of the "award-winning, critically-acclaimed" Muppet Shows (and shows) on there, it could help them get greater ratings. We can hope. :-)
