Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I think this Grammys spot was a great idea that elevated Henson back into the current public consciousness at a time when they're also planning to shoot their new puppet noir film...and it was a lot of fun too. Thinking anything more than that is over thinking. You can't always tell which star...
I may have started a thread about this picture a while back, but due to the tone I don't blame you for creating a new one.
Sorry, I usually like quality animated films - from Pixar pictures to classically animated ones that come out in rare drips and drabs like "The Illusionist". "Mars Needs...
I just don't get the Disney negativity. Their 7 years of Muppet ownership hasn't been 100% successful so far, but they've gone above and beyond the days of Henson and ETV ownership that preceded the Disney buyout. Sometimes fans have short and convenient memories.
The kiddified Kermit's...
Disney was in a transitional phase after purchasing the Muppets and they, along with many other Disney-owned properties, took a few bizarre detours.
Disney finally got serious about the Muppets and have spent the last two years like they were cramming for an exam. They rushed the last...
I agree with that. This is a nearly impossible product to produce. MR did make them, but didn't really "pull it off" completely. Price, perceived quality and lingering stock plagued the line.
EFX has the advantage of learning from MR's successes and failures, but they also have the MR posers...
Boom did a fantastic job with Disney's properties and tested the waters that a bigger distributor like Marvel is better capable of handling on a grander scale. That's not to say they will. I just hope that's the case.
From toy design to media and publishing, Disney likes to keep things...
Exactly. I don't understand it either, but it's the same reason why (the last remaining) music stores only carry top artists and their most current albums. We've become such a culture of the now. :sympathy:
Once the movie hits there will be more Muppet stuff. It might not be as much as we'd...
My guess is that EFX is waiting to see if the movie hype helps. Muppet items are just plain a harder sale right now no matter what the price point. They need a current project and will have a big one soon. I'm sure they want to make these. That's why they bought the license. It's still doubtful...
It's a timing thing. The marketplace is fickle. Muppet merchandise, no matter how excellent, needs a current project in order to support sales. It's a brand-awareness issue. Even some kids are reluctant to buy Smurfs these days because they don't know them that well. My guess is that it could...
Jim Henson objected to being pigeonholed as a kids' performer and I think the Henson Company has given enough to the world by way of childrens' education and they deserve to act as creatively as they choose. Last night's performance was a huge win for any classic Henson fan. :attitude:
I like these too. This sort of figure is very popular right now and it helps keep costs uniform. It's kind of like the next gen of Little People. I can see Hasbro doing something closer to scale if these do well...and they should!
Okay, the plush cookie-eating Cookie Monster totally stole my...
The things I like about Bear that most other shows just don't have:
*It doesn't try to be wholesome, it just is.
*The repetitive elements, that such educational shows must have, are sweetly comforting rather than grating.
*It's not a space-age technology-centered program.
*It's a...
I've never been a big Valentine fan simply because it turns love into some sort of competition or grand gesture. It should be a day for people to remind that someone special (if they happen to have someone special) just how valued they are. However, I used to be a goth boy who sat out every...
I get your point. They were okay, but I'm one of those few people out there who are totally not a foodie. I can appreciate a good meal, but that along with travel and clothes impress 99% of other people. It's always the little things with me and that only takes one date to figure out. My gift to...
I decided to send the picture a week early so it wasn't considered a romantic gesture and he liked it so much that it's now his facebook profile picture. He's one of those truly unique people and I felt like reminding him of that. It worked. :)
I actually broke it off with somebody I was seeing many years ago because he gave me chocolates upon returning from a European trip. It just showed that he didn't know me well enough by then. Anyone knows a cheap little do-dad with googly eyes or a handwritten postcard would do the trick. ;)
Thanks. I'm sure he will. It's very specific.
That's my feeling too. I'm a poor artist working from payday-to-payday so taking the time to make something is kind of like spending money to me. If anyone wants expensive things - I'm the wrong fellow. ;) People often keep the stuff I make. Kind...
