It was a lot less mean spirited and juvenile than previous theatrical films, I will say that. But that's as far as I'll go. And again, it doesn't mean I don't like the movie.
Goes both ways for me. I'm grateful that Disney has actually done something successful with the Muppets. Absolutely.
Do I think The Muppets (2011) was more "kiddie" than the original movies? Yes, I do. As others have said, "family entertainment" meant something different in the '70s and '80s...
The 20th century wasn't that long ago. Times haven't changed that much.
TMM and MTM aren't paced that differently from today's movies. It's not like they're the Godfather or something, lol. If kids actually get bored with them, I'm sorry but the fault is with the kids, not the movies. And we...
Yeah that basically explains my general hesitation regarding reboots/remakes. They are well intentioned; they might even be good movies. But they often end up being used as excuses to avoid older movies.
Don't be surprised, you really never know what your presence does for people.
Back in High School, I was shocked to find out another student had written an essay about me. Apparently a long time ago in grammar school she had done something nice for me and I was extremely thankful. And that...
I don't care about the Duck Dynasty guy, but I don't think the show has more ratings purely because of what he said. A lot of people were just sick of words being used as a reason to fire people. Americans in general need to learn the art of just ignoring people once and awhile, lol.
I mean...
Yeah there's a lot of issues like that in this country, heh.
In any case, I seriously doubt this will pass. It's a smokescreen just to liven up the party. The "we reserve the right to refuse service" thing is ancient history.
I'm pretty much been there, believe me. It's just happened enough times in my life for me to realize there are times when there's nothing anyone can do/will do to stop it. But I also know it never lasts, bullies and their little enablers always get their comeuppance eventually.
To be specific, they want businesses to be able to deny serving gay people for religious reasons. The old "we reserve the right to refuse service." I seriously doubt it will pass.
Here's what it comes down to. Jesus said, "No man can serve God and money." People who support this bill don't...
Oh I'm not saying bullies are particularly helpful, lol. Just that they can sense blood in the water, so to speak. I was very sensitive as a child and would have been regardless of bullying. And people took advantage of that. Does that mean I deserved it? Of course not. But you can't control...
On the other hand, I'm not sure I entirely agree with the study. I get the impression many kids who are bullied (including myself actually) would likely already be prone to depression and it's just that bullies can sense vulnerable people and take advantage.
Just read about this on TP, I'm glad they included this:
I can definitely understand that feeling and will remember John next time I hear "Rainbow Connection".
Actually I can totally see myself as a kid walking up to my room in the dark and getting the willies thinking of that narration, lol. Something about it and that sax accompaniment is a little unsettling. And that whole "At night behind the door I think I've heard one more..." ::SHIVERS:: That...
From what I've seen no one has forgotten, mainly because there's always a ton of fans to remind them, heh. ;)
Ledger's success doesn't mean every new casting choice will be a success. It just means we should remember actors can have range and it's possible they'll surprise you. :)
Oh absolutely, I have no doubt that's why Eisenberg got the part. He's just hot right now. Maybe I don't mind because I don't have that much connection to one particular Lex Luthor. He's had a lot of different live action incarnations over the years.
