Yeah, probably. I'm just going off what Ken has said in Oogieloves-related interviews.
Yeah, in August, the potential audience was getting prepaired for day care or preschool - No time for this, really. Maybe a Spring release would've been a bit better (March or April - There's not much else...
Well, the whole idea for this in the first place was to create a crowd-participation movie (of the likes of The Rocky Horror Picture Show) for preschool children, hence why he wanted it in cinemas.
But, yeah, he obviously shouldn't have taken the risk. Despite the marketing efforts (The budget...
Believe it or not, my friend, but despite the film's record-breaking failure, they're still planning on making two more entries for the... ugh... Oogieloves trilogy. And they're planning on merchandise for the next one.

I saw the trailer for this a little while ago... Yeah, I cannot imagine why they would think to make this. It's pretty darn obvious that this is going to be a horrible movie.
But hey, at least it's not getting a cinematic release.
Here's what I do with the cartoon - I watch it almost non-stop before Christmastime, so I'm sick of it by the time Christmas is over. :p
As for the Jim Carrey movie - I do enjoy it, but it seems like every year that goes by, I go to that one less and less, and to the cartoon more and more. I...
Wha... wha... How do you not own It's a Wonderful Life and The Grinch yet? Those go for... what?... $10 a pop?
With the Sesame Street ones, I at least have the excuse that they're horribly expensive. :P
Those darn Christmas Barney collections...
Now that I'll be watching A Special Sesame Street Christmas right before I go Christmas shopping, this MIGHT JUST BE THE YEAR! :fishy:
You know what's really, really sad? I don't even have Christmas Eve on Sesame Street on DVD yet, and I'll likely own THIS THING before getting that classic!
Seriously, I've been meaning to buy that box-set that comes with Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, Elmo Saves Christmas and Happy...
Ah, thanks for finding that, buddy. :super:
Yeah, there's no way I'm buying that CD now - Especially seeing how it's selling for $15 at Chapters, and the actual special is only $3 more. I guess I'll have to buy an Ann Murray album for "You Needed Me"... but then again, Ann Murray albums don't...
Yeah, that's certainly understandable.
Trust me, I can only imagine what I'd be doing if I saw Barney's Great Adventure at the cinema today for the first time.
What do I think of it now? Well...
I think I should try ranking them too - and I'll include Kermit's Swamp Years and (even though I know it's not being asked here) the two Sesame Street movies, too:
The Muppet Movie (1979)
The Great Muppet Caper (1981)
The Muppets (2011)
Sesame Street presents: Follow that Bird (1985)
It's a...
The only Muppet movie I flat out didn't like was Kermit's Swamp Years.
As for my favourite... well, I don't think you could possibly beat The Muppet Movie - That film is truly a timeless classic. As for my second favourite, I think it's a tie between The Great Muppet Caper and The Muppets (2011).
Were those warnings even on the back of the last two Sesame Street Old School sets? I can only rememeber ever hearing a little warning on the intro of the DVD.
