"Because I'm a Villain": Your Picks for the New Muppet Movie

Before reading the thread, I was thinking Christopher Walken...good call, colbynfriends. :p I think Harvey Keitel would also be outstanding. As for Angelina Jolie, I'm equal parts excited and concerned. On the one hand, she'd certainly draw people in to see the film, which is a good thing...

    Favorite Background Animals

Chickens Monsters Rats Penguins Pigs I dunno why, but the chickens have just always cracked me up. I had a hard time ranking these, and I feel especially bad putting the pigs at the bottom, because I really like them all...I also like the horses/cows that would often appear alongside...

    Fellow Church People

I'm a bit late to this conversation, but I'm a Presbyterian. I still attend the church in which I was baptized, and I volunteer in various ways there (including teaching 5th grade Sunday School starting this fall:eek:). I had perfect attendance at Sunday School for eight solid years, between the...

Muppet Movie event at the Center for Puppetry Arts

I posted this in another thread, but a new thread really seems to be in order. As most of you presumably know, the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta has been designated as the future repository for lots of Muppet stuff. They are already rolling out a number of photographs and other artifacts...

Nominate Clips for an upcoming Sesame Workshop project!

I'm partial to Ernie's song "I'd Tip My Hat" (Imagine that!). It was a make-believe sequence wherein he progressed through a series of "adventuresome" occupations, each involving a unique hat (the main one I remember was ship captain). Anything with Super Grover is darn good, too.

Muppet Show Muppets on Sesame Street

Well thanks for the heads up! Since the Muppet Show was a bit before my time, I've not yet seen every episode (though I'm working my way toward collecting them all on DVD...:D). There is indeed some good Big Bird stuff there on YouTube, including some heartstring-tugging footage from Jim...

Something I noticed about The Count

That was absolutely outstanding. I think absurdist humor is awfully difficult to do effectively, and to me, this is a classic example of the Muppets' genius. They didn't try to force absurdity, it just fit incredibly naturally with those two characters. And it was hilarious.

Muppet Show Muppets on Sesame Street

I also always though it would have been cool to take things in the other direction...Big Bird's preschool mind expressing curiosity about all of the interesting events and equipment in the Muppet Show theater, Oscar grousing in the balcony with kindred spirits Statler and Waldorf, Grover...

Muppets Take Manhattan In Select Theatres Tuesday

Does this kind of engagement have any chance of being a touring kind of thing (with a stop or two in, say, Atlanta:excited:)? I'd skip work and pay lots to go...

Any Museums Dedicated to the Muppets?

New poster and lifelong Muppets fan and Atlantan here. Convenient with regard to my question: Any Center for Puppetry Arts members out there? I have a birthday coming up, and I'm contemplating asking for a membership so I can get in on the growing Muppets stuff there ahead of the opening of the...

New Members: Please Post and Introduce Yourself

Hi folks! I'm a lifelong Muppets fan. I suppose I cut my teeth on the Sesame Street gang. Follow That Bird has always been a favorite (I found it difficult to choose a single favorite film when registering), and I guess I graduated to the older gang not long after that. Anyway, I'm happy to be...
