Today's one of the days I look forward to the most on MCR, the Jerry Nelson tribute. Just logged back in to the MCR station link and can relax all night with this vonderful musicthon playing. Thanks Phil.

I always look forward to it as well! I was actually going to post about it today but didn't think to actually carry through with it until now. I like having his songs as a second wind to finish something I'm working on. Normally I don't really like to have Muppet Central music playing when I work on a script, because a lot of my work has heavy personal themes and they're not the kind of stuff you want to work on as Big Bird sings in the background about how everyone makes mistakes. This, however, is an exception, as Jerry is a MAJOR influence on who I am as a person and I like having him and his songs help guide me through a project. Every July 10 I make it a goal to finish or at least advance in a project with Jerry's music playing. And they always give me that second wind despite my long history with crippling writer's block. This year and the last, I've managed to complete two things on this date. The first a short script I needed to present in a filmmakers' session later that day, the second a whole microbudget feature. I hope to get both of those made in the next few years. Thank you, Jerry. Forever missing you. <3

• songs Jerry Nelson sang for Sesame Street Live shows
• covers of songs that Jerry's characters sang outside of Halfway Down the Stairs

Just something to consider for this time next year...
