I think they used it for those 2 episodes because in both of them, Barkley was in the final scene so it wouldn't make sense to show the standard Barkley credit sequence.
Ugh! I have to say when I got the email that someone replied to this thread, I didn't realize how old it was and I thought that maybe someone was bringing back Sprout, and that was going to be the new home for Sesame Street.
