I'm an unemployed cartoonist living in the capital city of Nevada. After working a decade in state government, I finally had enough of being a "worker bee" on the public payroll, and sweating my way up the bureaucratic ladder for the satisfaction of a fat pension at the end of it all. I decided that thirty years of wasting away at a desk was not for me. So I quit, and decided to complete a project I've been contemplating for years: My own syndicated comic strip. I've got a few ideas I'm currently working on.
In the mean time, to pay the bills, I substitute teach when I can, and do a number of odd jobs. Who knows? I may like teaching so much that I decide to go back to school, complete my master's degree and obtain licensure.
But for now, my focus is on my writing and my art. Those two things drove me when I was very young, and I let the world around me dictate my directions as I grew older. I recognize what personal folly that had been for me. Now, I trust I am doing what I should have been doing all along.
I've been married for eight years, and while I know that my unemployment is a hardship on the household, I have my wife's whole-hearted support in this life pursuit of mine.
God willing, my endeavor will succeed and I will realize the dream I've carried in my heart since the tender age of nine.
As for The Muppets, they are an escape for me from the doldrums and rigors of real life. And, like my other favorite, The Looney Tunes, I draw much comic inspiration from Henson's beloved characters.
The most endearing to me are Sesame Street's Snuffaluffagus; The Muppets' Gonzo the Great, Rowlf, and Statler and Waldorf.
They would make up my Muppet Dream Team.
