When Steve was let go he literally begged Disney to let him do the Live Muppet Show and I think he said he would do it for free. It's really disingenuous for him to say he had let go of The Muppets in 2005. He pleaded to get his job back for quite some time after he was fired.
The fact is, no...
It depends on what Disney wants. The one that it matters for most is Poggy, though. Even if Disney really wants the most current looks, the other characters can be cheated to whatever era NECA wants. Piggy, however, has very specific looks from decade to decade, or even year to year on TMS.
Sal was the one that got away 20 years ago, but I don't see him being done anytime soon.
As you referenced, we should expect to see characters that "normies" know. Snowths and Manah Manah are probably a shoe in, which would be great since we dont have them in this scale.
I doubt we will see...
I get where you are coming from, but Palisades was over 20 years ago. Some of my figures plastic is getting brittle. Some accessories scattered to time. And if there is ever going to be a time for another Muppet Show line, this is the same.
Tbh, I didn't think we would see Muppet figures this soon from NECA. I figured it would be a another year or more. So glad to see these coming, possibly this year. This may be why the Sesame stuff is spaced out. While they are separate licenses, I'm sure NECA doesn't want to flood the market...
IT'S HAPPENING!!! OMG!
While I loved the DST line, I can not wait to see what to see what NECA does with this! The old Palisades stuff is great, but I need a Kermit with some midern articulation and swappable parts.
To me the entire post Steve made was rather passive aggressive. He claims no disrespect to Matt, but the entire post is about how Kermit is souless and just throwing on a green sock with ping pong balls doesn't make it Kermit and so on. He basically trashes Matt taking on Kermit without directly...
For those wondering about scale, NECA posted this for Ernie's borthday.

The top of Ernie's head pretty much comes up to Big Bird's elbow, which is in line with the illustrated style guide. Big Bird is big enough to look right, but not so big he...
Certainly looks like an updated version of The Muppet Show.
I'll take anything Muppets. I'd rather see a new and different series, but I know general audiences just want what they remember so I'll happily take this too. I just wish the facebook comments weren't full of hate for Kermit's voice.
If they do a haulathon figure I would it actually goes love when it is supposed to instead of what happened with Count. I ended up over paying on Ebay because it sold out after going up days late and we didnt know if other retailers would have him at the time.
My guess is still Elmo...
The picture of Mr. Hooper and the roller skates were cut. Maybe we will see them in an accessory set or maybe in a potential nest playset, though no such playset has been talked about.
Its on the NECA website.

Price is $59.99, so a bit more than I hoped.
I recommend waiting for it to appear on other retail sites, though. NeCA's shipping is pricey.
It better be less than that. My guess is $49.99.

And he looks so much better posed up with his accessories and the neck posed. This is a must buy and I hope that it releases fairly close to the preorder day.
I just want to enjoy Matt's Kermit while we have it. I love Steve as a performer, but he's too high energy for Kermit. He did great in MCC and MTI, but as he made Kermit his own, he made him a bit too much like his other characters that are all high energy. Its also why I liked his Ernie more...
