Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I was audibly upset at how the accident unfolded. I liked the monkeys, and then when they threw the banana peels, I'm like "Crap, I have to hate them now." It could've also been further prevented if Alan didn't have to monologue to the viewer about littering. Sheesh.
A nice change of pace to have the usually hot-headed Gonger be patient with Cookie when he realizes how badly he messed up. Some other cool puppety observations include Gonger diving into the foodie truck (which I laughed at uproariously), and the spilt frosting landing on cue on the counter...
This may be the most Big Bird-centric episode in a while. It seems like in the past couple seasons he had been mostly used as a supporting character. Here, he might have as much screen time as Elmo. Personally hoping for more of this as the season lingers on, especially with those new road trip...
Missed the first 40 minutes or so. The guides are a handy thing to post because I'm noticing they're dropping segments here and there, probably to compact episodes to a specific time limit or something. Also, short Farmers Insurance ads are being inserted at the half-hour and hour marks.
Okay, with that off me chest, the rest of the show ROCKED!!! Amazing, beautiful arrangements that satisfied the jazz cat in me (and also honestly should justify a cover album of some kind. I mean, a guy can dream, right?). I could guess they consciously chose some songs that were more...
Making one of my random walk-on cameo appearances to point out that this backup Oscar with the crooked mouth, introduced in season 46, is now looking more favorable by comparison.
Just take comfort in knowing that if the stocky Oscar puppet used in the concerts will be a long-term...
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I was checking HBO Go and found that five of their "Sesame Street Classics" episodes are no longer listed. I don't see episodes #1576, #3136, #3171, #3502, and #3611 anywhere. I guess they took them off at the beginning of the year, and I'm not sure why...
Yeah, to be honest, Billy's Ernie has been the hardest to stomach for me, though he has gotten better at it recently. Even if it's not as good as Jim or Steve, I can kind of accept it as it's own thing. I've always thought I could do a pretty good Henson voice, but that's not really the point...
I love videos that let the Muppets be Muppets and ad-lib up a storm.
Not to deviate too, but I can't help but note the comments on this. Half of the people are griping about the voices. It mystifies me that people are suddenly not used to Matt Vogel's Big Bird, despite the fact that he's voiced...
To my knowledge, this appears to be the first time two of Matt Vogel's characters have interacted with each other. Weird to hear how different his Big Bird and Count voices are from each other.
I'd almost suspect this episode was held over from season 46 or something. I mean, why else would they throw in the Crumby Pictures and Two-Headed Monster skits on top of last year's Letter/Number segments?
Also, Jen's Zoe voice sounded rather jarring in this, but she sounds good in the little...
I know I've been gone for some time, but since my last post was about season 46, I wanted to talk a bit about this season. So far, I think the flow of the format in the first couple episodes is much better; and adding a closing scene, similar to the Halloween episode, helps give them a much more...
