Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
We WISH stores like Walgreens and Target and GameStop were interested in Muppets, but it is a hard sell with no current media attached. Kingdom Hearts is one of our most successful launches in recent memory.
Hopefully we can move on to Dr. Teeth next. I think he is stronger than Sam, IMHO...
That is exactly the problem, Diamond Previews can distribute, but they did not gather enough orders for the CASE ASSORTMENT (6 figures), and without Toys"R"US, the numbers were too low to realistically produce. $150 is a big investment, even at wholesale prices, so we are trying it with a single...
I'm sorry if I came across as thin-skinned and defensive at any point, I'm not sure what this is in reference to, but it was certainly not my intention. Aside from a couple of engineering missteps like the drums, I think the quality on these figures is quite high.
Hey, everyone, yes, we are offering Chef as a single Select figure to try to roll these out one at a time. If orders are strong for Chef, I imagine we will move forward with another Muppet after that. So I encourage everyone to pre-order.
Currently, it appears only BBTS has the listing up, but...
And our initial release dates are all estimates -- most retailers need a street date for their systems, but we would rather give a three-month window, like "Spring." We can estimate approval time, tooling time, manufacturing time, shipping time (boat, then truck), but we really have no idea...
Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Looks like I somehow turned off e-mail notifications, or I would have come by to see what everyone was talking about.
Series 3 is obviously coming, there were definitely some accessories added AFTER we showed them the first time but this was definitely...
The TRU figures are in smaller packaging and have a lower price. The balcony would not fit in the package OR in the price point. It is exclusive to comic shops. Find one at comicshoplocator.com or order online (anywhere but toysrus.com).
I've seen production samples, so we're getting close...
I don't know more than what we've shown. Camera, mirror, guitar, bass... Series 4 I honestly haven't studied the lineup yet, but it's still a ways off.
That is a very, very interesting list of heights! It gets much more interesting when you watch Muppets Most Wanted and learn that Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais are three feet tall and that Ty Burrell is four feet tall. The magic of the movies!
Even the film's internal height charts are off!
Oh, I wasn't saying that they were as big as humans, just that they were bigger than most of the animal Muppets. And I wasn't saying that the group shot showed their height, just their relative proportions -- in most other shots they are clearly not even on the same plane, being way in the back...
Great case setup, Rtec.
It's hard to gauge Statler & Waldorf's size, since they're usually apart, and in the back row of most group photos, but I always thought they were closer to human size than the others because they were more "human" Muppets, like the Swedish Chef. Maybe Jaime can weigh in.
It would be easier for some than others. Even if you found a way to replicate the way Kermit's one-piece head moves, simple form like Kermit's head would have a seam, and we try to avoid excessive cuts like that.
Maybe Series 3 at SDCC, we'll see.
Oh, and I disagree with MWC about the scale having a potential negative impact on the line. Making the figures bigger and more expensive in order to supplement a ten-year-old, largely affordable and fairly complete line seems like it would have been the wrong move. The new scale works with more...
We were never intentionally coy with the scale, we always said they were in scale to Select 7" action figures. If that was hard to grasp, I apologize -- I handle all press, print and communications, so it would be on me. It was the only way I saw to provide a scale, as applying a general scale...
