I personally think that HSM kind of helped it but I think that this show would've been made no matter what cause it's just a great show and a great concept.

HSM kind of created the concept, but Glee is MUCH better. They're better actors, and it actually has a plot. (versus the musical *about* a musical thing)

The cast of Glee is singing the National anthem on Halloween at a World Series game on Saturday.

It might just be a generational discrepancy here, but HSM didn't create a concept as much as they rode down the paths of Grease and Fame (that was both a movie and a weekly television program). Glee is the next in a progression of musical school concepts, but this time it's tongue-in-cheek rather than taking itself so seriously or being primarily tween-targeted. Glee is its own thing. Of course, HSM made the idea popular to a modern audience. Still, I find Glee the answer to HSM rather than an extension of it.

I just find some of the attitudes a bit too condescending.
You know, I had that problem with Big Bang Theory... and even when I really started to like it I still had that problem. Basically on the blonde girl's part. But they were able to take her down a peg eventually.

I almost wanna watch this show now, but I find myself too caught up in Cougar town for lord knows what reason. Maybe I just think cougars are more worthy of scorn lately....

Really? I love BBT. There's the same amount of condescension in classic programs like the Golden Girls. We're just used to seeing it in that context.

Me too, but it took them forever to put that dang Penny character in her place. Besides, that other girl... the one that was in Rosanne with (I can't remember her name exactly) was a great deal funnier being condescending.

That said, anyone else think Sheldon is just a bit like Dick Solomon from Third Rock from the Sun?

It's not on tonight, stupid World Series! :stick_out_tongue: Well, they're making up for it with the national anthem on Saturday, THAT will be awesome.
