There have been a numbe rof short-lived television shows over the eyars. Many have been released on DVD, but there are some that still haven't been released. Some may be cult shows, others may be infamous, and yet others may not have any fans at all.

Does anybody know anything about the chances of any of these shows getting official DVD releases?

  • The Bob Newhart Show (his variety series, not his sitcom)
  • Bob
  • George and Leo
  • The Duck Factory
  • Family Dog
  • Fish Police
  • Capital Critters
  • Happy
  • Baby Talk
  • Baby Bob
  • A Minute with Stan Hooper
  • The Chevy Chase Show
  • The Brady Bunch Hour
  • The Brady Brides
  • The Brady's
  • Cavemen (that's pretty much been cancled by now)

I guess I wouldn't hold my breath for any of these (of course, there are many that I'm not personally familiar with). Unless there is such a strong cult following that people barrage the companies with letters, it doesn't seem real likely to me.

While we're at it, what about The Jim Henson Hour? I'd REALLY love to have that on DVD, but who knows? We know about it here at MC, but it's probably barely a blimp on the radar screen to most TV executives.

Wouldn't be too sure Cavemen won't be on DVD at some time. They probably made the DVD before the series even debuted.

How about Muppets Tonight! or even Dog City? Even Little Muppet Monsters?

But as far as non-Henson properties that had short-lived series, I can recall only a few that have no DVD releases of the actual series (mainly due to Disney's extreme negligence): Pepper Ann, Recess, and Teacher's Pet.

But as far as non-Disney, non-Henson properties go, I'd rather see Nick's old game shows on DVD, Flying Rhino Junior High (remember THAT one?), Wheel 2000, and Game Show Marathon (can you tell I'm a game show freakazoid?)

It would be nice to see City Kids or the Secret Life of Toys on DVD.

I wish they'd put Family Dog on DVD. Some of the 10 episodes did make it to VHS and of course there's the Amazing Stories episode where it started. I think it could happen in light of all that's been released these days.
