Read me a story, mommy!

“Witty Jack fooled many beings, people, and legends, such as you, an honorable legend, once thirsty for adventure only to taint your hands in cold blood. Do you know just who de small child behind de tale is anymore, Jimmy? What a surprise to the world if they found out that de adorable Jimmy turned into a ruthless pirate. Fooled by a Goddess you were, too.”

I looked to the side. “King of the Brethren Court is what I am now. The starry-eyed child was then.” I said in my defense. “Perhaps it was for the better when I slid Gonzo’s throat…” I said to myself from out of the blue.

The witch directed my attention back to what would be the memory of a not so long ago past.

I saw a 12-year-old Elizabeth Swan, daughter of the governor, seeing a handsome young boy who had fallen unconscious (Will Turner, childhood friend and future lover I assumed based on tales with the local theives). She spotted a strange gold medallion resembling a skull (it seemed), hanging around his neck. Perhaps it had meaning. Fearing he’d be accused of piracy were the soldiers to discover it, she took it into her hands to bare the risk. It would be her burden for eight more years.

The gold medallion led to the Aztec’s prized gold where Captain Barbossa, filled with greed, wanted the treasure for himself and for his undead crew. The ever clever Jack tricked him into the bargain. The oblivious captain fell for Sparrow’s charm believing he’d follow through. Jack manages to steal The Black Pearl and the treasure leaving an enraged undead crew behind (Barbossa’s).

The fanciful imagery shifted into something fearsome.
A hand stuck out; a hole slowly formed into it. “The black spot…” I whispered stiffly. The hand belonged to none other than Captain Jack Sparrow himself.

Blurred and uncertain, I waited for the next memory to take shape. It was Calypso’s lover reminding Jack of his debt. It seemed foolish of the man to have had believed he would willingly give up his own soul just to captain The Black Pearl…

The fog around the crystal ball slowly faded. I could see the little magic Tia Dalma (Calypso—that’s her humanoid name) held over it was losing its effect. Within the slowly fading fog, lighting flickered in it.

“You’ll see no mercy from me, lass!”

The tall aquamarine-like monster threatened madly, the tentacles of his face erect from anger. Just when he was about to swing his mighty sword, the woman swiftly blocked it with a much more clever comeback, “That’s why I brought this!” Her dark brown eyes filled with determination—oddly enough Elizabeth went from a delicate flower to a venomous snake (how realistic, honestly, impossible to become a pirate lord in a matter of days when clearly you had no experience before –rolls eyes-).

Whilst their fighting, William Turner fought his own father in combat, Bootstrap was the father’s name. The long time slave to The Flying Dutchman had forgotten the boy was his own son. “I’m not going to kill you…” He said honorably, “I made you a promise.” The man looked to him oddly letting him go to save his knocked unconscious fiancée.

A groan sounded from Davy when the sword sliced through his chest. Just after the mistake, he laughed silkily “Turner, did you forget? I’m a heartless wrench.” He said in his thick Scottish accent. The desperate man tried to get the sword out, but fell prey to a powerful kick across the face.

William collapsed from the blow. He was now cornered by fear personified, who bared a wry grin. The monster noticed Elizabeth staring into her lover’s eyes. I could not tell if he was pleased or shocked. Whatever he meant to express, it was gone now. What was once concern flashed into something more sinister.

“Ah, love…a dreadful bond.” He started with a little shake of his head, a dry chuckle sounding from his slimy lips as bitterness made itself present in his voice,“Yet so easily severed!”

Holding the blade to Will's throat, Jones menacingly asked, "Tell me, Will Turner, do you fear death? Do you?”

The beating of a heart once trapped within a treasure chest grew louder in his ears.

“Do you?” Asked Jack coyly, holding Davy’s heart in his hand.

Anger turned into fear when he set his blue eyes on his throbbing organ.

“You’ve a cruel mind, Jack Sparrow!”

“It’s a matter of perspective, Davy.”

“Is it?”

The monster slid the sword deep into Will's chest, mortally wounding him. An enraged "Bootstrap" Bill lunged himself at Will’s murderer, regaining some memory of the promise Will made to him. Torn between immortality for himself and saving Will, Jack placed his broken dagger in Will's hand, guiding a numb hand into stabbing the heart of Davy Jones. Slowly dying, Elizabeth screamed repeatedly as a visibly saddened Jack looked on.

“Calypso…”

Jones whispered, descending towards his doom into a pitch black whirlpool.
The storm stopped the moment he disappeared from their sight.

Her power lost its effect. Quiet merged with tension in the room. The temper she held at this point was unwise to try. “William Turner lived, taking over de Flying Dutchman. Elizabeth became a mother of a beautiful child. Jack Sparrow wandered away with your compass to track down de Fountain of Youth.” She explained tensely.

A grudge formed on my part, too when she mentioned the filthy pirate’s name. I turned my head to the side, rubbing my bearded chin. “Mmm, won’t be too hard.” I said. “What’s in the pouch?” I added. “Consider this a gift, child.” She said passing me the bag. I took it, and left for the ship.

Note: The story will be clearer as we follow through with the other chapters.

Tortuga, loaded with gold from the journey!

The oceans’ waves rocked the massive ship; the air playfully blew into its large hulls. The hearty singing of traditional men filled the midnight sky. The crew were somewhat busy, but below the watery surface came a flurry of activity with the lurking unknown.

The moon’s brilliant glow forced the crew squinty eyes and nearly toothless smiles. Tan bodies worked themselves to the bone, glistening with sweat from their never-ending toil. No matter the labor, it was the joy of even being alive and rich.

The hours passed. They came to a stop.

The leading captain barked a command to his team. They did as he pleased. The anchor plunged into the watery depths, hitting the soft unsettling sand. Deciding Tortuga would be the best place to stop---a former pirate stronghold at the time. No cadet would stop their fun, unless pirates of an alien alliance were to intrude.

“All right, men!” Declared the captain, tall and proud was he.

The exhausted crew scrambled to get off the ship with joyous cheer. They were stopped by the lead man himself. “Mind your manners.” He reminded coolly, flashing a dazzling smile, which was odd for him since he did not have time to brush his teeth very often. He made his way to the dock almost elegantly; contrary to his once bubbly obnoxious nature as a child starved for adventure.

“You may come down now.” He said smoothly.

They followed after him in a disorderly fashion. Ideas circulated about on how they’d spend their generous pay. Despite the glee expressed, they had to remember that they were in pirate territory---anything could happen. Unbeknownst to the clan, the pirate lord had havoc in mind already.

“Hello, darlings…” He greeted.

Two women clad in what one would call modest in our more modern times, were dressed in skimpy dresses revealing a generous amount of cleavage (Oh please –rolls eyes-). The girls smiled a yellow smile when they noted his arrival. “Any plans involving us tonight, Captain Hawkins?” Said Dahlia, brushing her black hair to the side to reveal her swan-like neck—it would have been a beautiful one were it not for the throbbing mole on her cheek.

Jim nervously laughed as he tucked her hair back in place “Terrible mol—moment to do business, girls.” He said honestly. “However, weren’t you two satisfied enough three weeks ago? Anyway, see you two later.” He said, ignoring their whines.

And yet... There's so much to love. Was that Calypso telling Jim of how Jack Sparrow, Will Turner and Davy Jones battled each other? Did you mean Jim "slit" Gonzo's throat? If so... Nooooooo!
*Sniffs for Gonzo.
Bad man! Bad man!

But I like the arrival in Tortuga... Want to know more about Dahlia's origins... Swanlike neck? Is that a reference to someone else? And who's her fellow, erm, concubine?

Oh Squeeky... Please post more!

Typos. Yes. Hehehe.
But don't think too hard on Gonzo's fate...there's more to this Jim than meets the eye!

Well I forgot to mention they were looking into a crystal ball.
Hawkins was describing what he saw.

Tia Dalma is Calypso (in case forgotten).

Dahlia is a made-up character of mine.
A prostitute along with her friend.

Swan-like neck was a description of having a long neck.

If you have anymore questions, please ask away!

<3 Thanks, Eddie!
