It seems this year there aren't many offerings for holiday film fare. Most of the budget seems to have been blown this summer. That being said, here are my top five films I am most looking forward to this season.

1. Sweeney Todd - most interesting remake sort-of-film in a while! Burton sans Elfman? Lets see.
2. Beowulf - could fall flat or soar. Either way, a brave idea.
3. The Golden Compass - such a bad rap before release, I'm interested.
4. Enchanted - absolutely fun looking!
5. Alvin & the Chipmunks - could be the holiday hit. I'll give it a chance.

:attitude: Others I'm looking forward to seeing include::zany:

Steven King’s The Mist (trailer looked good)
Hitman (my partner loves the game)
I Am Legend (even with Will Smith, it looks interesting)
Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (for the reported Muppet cameo)
Atonement (the season's sleeper and a change of pace)

Sweeney Todd definitely, I'm really looking forward to that, it looked so creepy!

Sweeney Todd is what I'm looking forward to the most.

I Am Legend - well, I LOVE the original 1954 novel by Richard Matheson. The 1964 adaptation, The Last Man on Earth, starring Vincent Price, was interesting, but it is marred by a low budget and poor dubbing (it was shot in Italy, with Price the only American in the cast). The book was remade again in 1971 as The Omega Man, with Charlton Heston. Not as faithful to the source material, but fun seeing Chuck battle black-robed hooded mutants (not vampires, as in the book). I'll give the new one a shot, the trailers look interesting enough.

Omega Man was definitely a trippy film! Though I was proud of Charlton Heston for breaking into the Sci Fi genre later in his career, after being the mainstream leading man in epic action films. Hehe

Silly me is looking forward to the release of the sequel to National Tressure because I'm ready for something I can just enjoy and not have to over think.

LOL, yep! Who would have thought that Moses and Ben-Hur would later be stranded on the Planet of the Apes, fight mutants and discover what Soylent Green really is?

Exactly! It's not easy (or typical) to do both. A documentary for Plant of the Apes discussed how Charlton's '50s characters were so strong and brave and heroic and always came out on top. But in the '60s and '70s his character started reflecting the changing times and became more fallible and threatened by villians stronger than man.

Another one I'm looking forward to is I'm Not There, which I think is already in limited release. It's a "biography" of Bob Dylan, with six actors portraying him at various stages throughout his life: Christian Bale, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Marcus Carl Franklin, Ben Whishaw and Cate Blanchett. It's directed by Todd Haynes, who made Velvet Goldmine and Far From Heaven.

Interesting soundtrack, with the likes of Eddie Vedder, Sonic Youth, Richie Havens, Los Lobos, Roger McGuinn, Jeff Tweedy, Willie Nelson, Dylan himself and others.

Yeah, I think I saw that documentary! Very informative! Had clips of Edward G. Robinson in Dr. Zaius makeup (he was eventually replaced by Maurice Evans, but Robinson co-starred with Heston in Soylent Green, which was his final film).

I love the scene in The Omega Man where Charlton Heston watches Woodstock in a movie theater, and mouths the lines in the film, he has seen it so many times.
