Recently I stumbled upon the 2nd greatest site (MC bein' the foist! ) called Snopes.com.

Aside from dismissing almost all those wretched e-mails I get about forwarding stories about Cancer ridden children or dieing if I don't; it also shed a lot of light on falasies I once thought were true as well as tons of other really cool things.

It also addresses things like Bert and Ernie's rumored sexuality, Ernie's death being written in to the show, and the cult favorite Bert is Evil site as well as a few other Muppety insights.

If you haven't heard of this site and the next time you get a forwarded e-mail with a shady sounding story or a questionable picture or you've heard a recent rumor or remembered an old one that you wanna' get to the bottom of, I highly reccomend this site.

Snopes will teach you above all else though to take almost everything you read or hear with a grain of salt (even the info on their site), spreading the cure for ignorance as well as a healthy dose of common snse. I applaud the webmasters Barbara and David P. Mikkelson for their awesome work on this site.

OMG, I love that website! It's full of interesting things.

There's also a TV show called Urban Legend that comes on the Biography Channel that would show three stories and some are real but the others are just made up.

Man why didn't I think of mentioning this site to my fellow Muppet fans. since I've known and visited this website for sometime now about a year or more.

But yeah it's a fun site about rumors. I really had fun really about the Disney stuff. But it should be warned that if one were to explore this site more than just the Sesame Street and Disney stuff, you'll find some stuff that will creep you out or gross you out.

I love Snopes too. I'm the one who always responds to those emails people send out saying things like "Don't pump gas on the 15th of the month to send a message to the big oil companies" and giving them the Snopes link disproving that something like that will actually work. I guess I am a big fat meanie, but sometimes those emails are so annoying!

I have been a big Snopes.com fan for years. I honestly thought this site was common knowledge.

Judging by the number of forwarded hoaxes I still get from family and friends every year, it's not common enough knowledge.

Like anything Internet, it's not 100% accurate and is to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's a great site. Still, I've never found it as dangerously compelling as, say, TV Tropes. I've burned away days on that site.

I'm supprised that alot ofthose foawrd chain mail messages end up on there. I cant believe people believe those.

I was also very tempeted to send them an email complaining that punk did not start in britain as they said on...that one about the punk chick and dyed green hair (you know what I'm talking about if you read that one). But then I thought they might be talking about punk fashion, and if thats the case, then yeah, it was britain. (yeah, I'm passionate about my music history)
