Towards the beginning of The Adventures Of Elmo In Grouchland , Mr. Johnson (Also known as Fat Blue after his Anything Muppet type) is seen and heard once again as being served by Grover. His first speaking role is when he yells out, "Hey Waiter!" (Clearly being performed by Jerry Nelson like he should be) to get Grover's attention but Grover is too busy to serve him. Later Grover goes by again and the two talk but this time, Fat Blue is performed by David Rudman. Finally Grover takes flight as Super Grover to help Elmo retrieve his blanket and Mr. Johnson sighs..... but he's performed by Jerry Nelson. If Jerry was there the whole time, why did they switch performers in the first place?

David Rudman was performing Fat Blue but Jerry Nelson dubbed in most of his lines.

But there were some parts with Rudman's voice . If Jerry Nelson was there in the first place, why was D.R. doing his voice?

Jerry wasn't "there" in person.. he dubbed his lines in a recording studio (they usually do songs pre-taping and dialogue post-taping), so David Rudman had to perform the lines on set so the timing would be right.. the fact that a few lines slipped through undubbed is probably just an editing mistake

It could have been an editing mistake, or they could have been trying out Ruebans for the takeing over of the voice one day. Kind of the way that Bill Beratea did Lew Zelend in AVMMXM he know does that Muppet full time. That is really the best way to do it i think because, it will elemanate the waiting prosses if the jerry should fully retiere from the muppets. Kind of like if Richard Hunt had someone to do his muppets when he couldn't be there kind of like an understudy then we might still have some of his SS muppets stilll around.

I wouldn't mind seeing David Rudman take over the role of Fat Blue if something ever happens to Jerry Nelson. Although the voice is noticably different, it still defines the voice of an annoyed customer. JMO
