I did not expect the first batch of episodes to release at once, let alone exactly at midnight on both Netflix and The PBS Kids App, regardless I used the latter to check out the first episode. I have not seen a new episode in a hot minute and as for the story itself it was pretty alright, kinda cool to see Zoe get a little more screentime (even if I am not a fan of her newer voice). The letter/number of the day is officially axed and instead we get segments of the new Tales from 123, Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck and Elmo's World. The new intro is nice and the new credits honestly go harder than they should. That's all I really gotta say, if you aren't a fan of modern Sesame Street then I doubt this will convince you to come back to the show.

In the premiere of Sesame Street for the next generation, Elmo, Abby and Zoe are off to the races. In the first race, carrying chickens on their backs. The next race is a chicken on a spoon race. Elmo gets tired easily and Abby won. Elmo didn't finish his sandwich and he ate it to get more energy. In the last race, they have a sack race. Zoey said chickens and the chickens join in the same sacks. Felix's mom Tiffany and Zoe have trouble in winning. They won already in the last race. Love the subtitles for the character who doesn't speak proper english on screen. Is this great reading or what for kids when they start watching the show? They got new graphic effects like The Wiggles did a few years ago. Now we get to see the newest segment Tales from 123, We got the same animation as earlier segments. Elmo, Tango and Grover are above and below so they need to stop and go. Next up we have Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck where we make a birthday cake for a surprise friend and we learn where eggs come from. Finally, we did Elmo's World, where we learn about friends. No letter or numbers of the day anymore, we lost count of what episode we are on, no sign of other segments and we might find new segments of Elmo's World and Foodie Truck hopefully. We'll keep looking and I think the set of Sesame Street should be updated as well since it's almost a decade old.

For there to be four episodes released at once in the first batch, and two more batches coming later on down the road, it makes me wonder if the number of episodes per season will be about 13, just like with many seasons of Saturday morning cartoons during the 1980s?

And also, it appears the episode count per season is drastically low now compared to 2002 through September 2025. There may be barely more than 10 episodes in a season now. It makes me wonder if the show was doing poorly in the ratings for many years, and I kind of wonder if the show could survive for only a few more years and ultimately get cancelled after that. I can understand doing away with the episode number being displayed, but the demise of the letter and number of the day puts my interest in new episodes at an all-time low. Basically zero now. I'd rather wait until January to see what's going to be available on YouTube.

Thing about this season is that it was filmed before the Netflix deal even happened, and after the HBO deal ended, so it basically relied on Sesame Workshop's own funds. It has not yet started filming under its Netflix funds, so we still don't know what would come out of that.

Plus, Season 56 was originally announced to have two 11 minute street stories per episode. That was changed later on, where now it's reruns of Foodie Truck and Elmo's World. Probably a semi-last minute decision given budget reasons, and what they have to work with after the Netflix deal. I imagine once we really start seeing the Netflix funds really start to get utilized, we might see either the original plan of two 11 minute street stories per episode be used as originally planned, or have a different sub-show take over the Foodie Truck/Elmo's World content.

Honestly the format changes in season 40 were enough to turn me away from taping anymore episodes to upload segments on YouTube. There’s an occasional enjoyable episode here and there between 33-39 that I can dig, otherwise, yeah, I think I’m glad I just jumped ship after 32.

I have a general question about the series: what has happened with Telly? I saw him during the Cookie counter street story, but with no dialog. Is he really being phased out?
