Hey all!
Hope things are well in puppet land. I must say I'm very happy to have been building and performing more puppets over the last couple of years. Before that I had about four years of no puppetry - absolutely terrible!

I'm glad The Muppets film was so well received. I had such fun on it and for me it was full circle, as that's exactly what I did when I started in 1980 on The Great Muppet Caper. Hopefully this will mean more Muppets over the coming years.

One thing I'd like to share with you is a music video I worked on just before I started on the Muppet film. In fact I shipped my footage off the day before starting the movie! There was no money so we ended up using and adapting Folkmanis puppets. The very kindly agreed to help and donated lots of puppets for us. It was for Thomas Dolby's first music video of the century (I had worked with him in 1989 on The Ghost Of Faffner Hall, the Henson music series). Here's a link to the making of stuff and the finished video. Beware though as it's not intended for kids

Something else I'm working on is Qzimation, which is an interesting puppetry/animation hybrid. Please take a look and feel free to share the link if you find it worth while. I'm pretty excited about it and can see this changing the way I work in the future:

This is a great time to be a puppet person. Now anyone can try their hand at creating characters and putting them up for all to see. It's a fine line between being a fan and a professional (I should know as I'm both). Here's to great puppet things from us all in 2012!

Thanks for reading and all the very best!

Mike
