Over at PuppetBuilding.com this week I've been posting about various puppet patents from the database of the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office. All of the ones I'm writing about are old expired patents. The designs are really good (even some from the 19th century!) and have detailed drawings with good explanations of how they work.

Today I put up links to an old patent for a cable controlled puppet head. I know the question of cable controls comes up quite a bit so anyone interesting in seeing some good drawings for cable controls may want to take a look.

There's an excellent book on early theatrical patents - British Theatrical Patents 1801 - 1900 edited by David Wilmore. It's really quite interesting.
