You know Kermit's ABC song that goes "A Aligator, B Bayou...etc."? It's one of the best SS/Muppets songs of all time (to me at least). I know most of the lyrics, but how does it all go?

Yeah, that song rules too (anyone could post that here too), but I'm talking about the earlier one where Kermit's in the swamp or somewhere.

Amazing
Beautiful
Creatures
Dancing
Excite the
Forest
Glade

Jump like the

Listen to the
Music so

Under the
Vine tree at the
Water side

Yellow moon
where the

Two posts are needed because we're talking about two different songs.

1 Kermit's African Alphabet.
A tribe of African Anything Muppets start walking through the forest clearing singing the alphabet as follows.
A, B, C, D, E, F, Gee. H, I, J, K, L, M, N-O-P as one quick triple note (foorgot what they're called.) Q, R, S, T, U, V, W. (With breaths in between) X, Y, Zee.
Then Round 2 of the song begins with Kermit The Frog singing the same letters in the same tone as the African Anything Muppets. And one of the tribe lets out a high-pitched note.

Then comes Round 3 where Kermit sings a nice little song while the tribe sings out their alphabet out again.
Tribe: A
Kermit: Amazing (and this is how the rest of the song's dialogue proceeds)
B
Beautiful
C
Creatures
D
Dancing
E
Excitement
F
Forest
G
Glade.

Kermit: In my
Tribe: H
Kermit: How
Tribe: I
Kermit: I do
J
Jump like the
K
Kuduu as I
L
Listen to the
M
Music so
N-O-P
Nicely Organ Played.
Q
Quietly
R
Rest up
S
Sleepy
T
Tiger
U
Under
V
The Vinetree by the
W
Water's side.
X
And X marks the spot
Y
'Neath the Yellow moon
Z
Where the Zulu/Zumbu chief and I did hide/dine.

Tribe: Unandi, unandi hey kami kachey. Rrrrrrrr. Hey K'man.

Hope this helps.
PS: The song where Ladysmith Black Mumbasa sings out a nice little alphabet song is another song altogether different from this song/sketch.

Here's the second post about Kermit's Alphabet in the Swamp. This sketch/song can be seen at the beginning of the Sesame Street video, The Alphabet Game. Sunny Friendly's hosting a type of alphabet-based game show and he turns the show over to Kermit for a minute where he sings his "Alphabet in the Swamp" song.

And here are the lyrics.
A is for Alligator
B is for Bayou
C is for Cyprus
D is for Dew.
E is for Evergreens
F is for Ferns
G is for Grass
That's H, Home to you.
I is for Insects
J is for Junipers
K is for Kelp, L is for Log, M is for Moon.
N is for Noontime
O is for Otter
P is for Possum, he'll be sleeping soon.
Q is for Quicksand, that's very tricky
R is for Rushes, S is for Snakes, and T is for Tar that gets you sticky.
U is for Universe that's V Vast and W Wide
And X marks the spot where I love to hide.
Y is for the Yellow Bird that sings so sweet
Which brings me back to Z, and now my alphabet's complete, in the swamp.

Then Kermit starts jumping into the waters of his swampland home for a while before starting the song over again but in a shorter form as he looks at some sort of frilled lizard Muppet next to him.
A Alligator
B Bayou
C Cyprus
D Dew.
E Evergreens
F Ferns
G Grass
That's H, Home to you.
I Insects
J Junipers
K Kelp, L Log, M Moon.
N Noontime
O otter
P Possum, he'll be sleeping soon.
Q Quicksand, that's very tricky remember?
R Rushes, S Snakes, and T Tar that gets you sticky.
U Universe that's V Vast and W Wide
X marks the Spot where I love to hide.
Y is for Yellow Bird that sings so sweet
Which brings me back to Z and now my alphabet's complete in the swamp.
Hoo-hoo! Hoo-Hoo!
Ribbet, ribbet.

And then the screen fades away or back to the game show in the case of the video.
Hope this helps.

I think the "h" in the African Alphabet song is "heart..." spent a long time memorizing that one.

Thank you everyone.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know the words to Big Bird's ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ?

I guess a show that's on everyday you have several alphabet songs. :stick_out_tongue:

AB-C-DEF-GHI is what it's titled. It's on an OLD record I have.

OH, ab-c-def-ghi-jkl-mnop-qr-stu-vwyxz
It's the most remarkable word I've ever seen
ab-c...
I wish I knew exactly what I mean

It starts out like an A word, as any one can see
But somewhere in the middle it gets awful "qr" to me

There's more but I can't remember it all.
