how to learn other forms of puppetry

Since I'm starting to get the hang of hand rod and hand glove puppets, like the Muppets. I'm very intrested in learning how to build and operate marrionettes. I'm also intrested in learning how to build and operate animatronic puppets. Anyone know how to learn these types of puppetry?

do you have to be a member of the puppeteers of america in order to attend these festivals?

No, but if you join you usually get a discount on your registration fee.
